Black Culture Discussion Thread

I think Martin sexually harassing her and making her work environment hostile was the main problem. Not her lack of tolerance for it.

She owed that show no loyalty if she was really getting treated like that.
That was made up
She was tryna get a record contract
And the show woulda interfered with that
So she made it up to get out of it
I got links but leaving work right now I’ll try to look for them later
Bunch of folks have came out to say she was lying

Martin w/o Tommy is gon be terrible. Tisha and Shake need that check so they tryin pull out all the stops, wouldn't be surprised if they made a sequel to Above the Rim :lol. I think Carl Anthony Payne had some rather choice words for Martin, Tichina Arnold tolerated Martin from things I've read....All in all, maybe they all got older and grew and learned to forgive each other, etc etc, still don't think the show would be good now. Back then cats were under 30 so the antics and relationships made sense, now what, Gina going w/ Martin to get a colonoscopy? I aint there for that.

Yup, without France taxing those countries which is basically them just extorting them for continuous payments France would drop and fall into a third world category since really they need those payments to stay afloat

"On Sunday, in Guadeloupe, Hollande said he would pay the debt owed to Haiti, but later retracted claiming he was referring only to a “moral debt.” The historical debt dates back to 1825, when the French government demanded a fee from Haiti in order to recognize its liberation as an independent nation."

LOL. Thats from Francois Hollande, a former French president.

Basically, they try to recoup all the future earnings they would have gotten had the country remained under their purview in any type of way. Between the late 1700s to the mid 1800s Haiti paid France almost a billion Francs, economically bankrupting one of the more richer nations in the Caribbean. If you wanna know how deep it goes Nicolas Sarkozy was the first French president to visit Haiti, that was over 200 years after they got independence. Similar stuff happened in Africa but I don´t think to that degree seeing as Haiti was the first nation in the new world to successfully rebel from colonization and become their own country

Thats why some of us really respect Thomas Sankara, he did not **** with France and refused to pay them ****.

This is vital information. I cant think of one former french colony that has less natural resources than France. (Im speaking on african nations) They would be like Greece or Spain without they're African collaborators.

I call them collaborators because, coincidentally, almost every african president that didnt play their game was assassinated. And the person they wanted to be in power, came to power.

After emancipation, there were two tools that our ancestors held as vital to their freedom : Land and education.
This month take the time to educate yourself on the rich history of African struggle here and abroad.
Honor your ancestors and the people who helped make your load a little lighter. Happy Black History Month!

Btw, Haiti borrowed money from French and US banks to pay back that debt, money they still owe until this day.

This is especially disgusting because this borrowed money was discounted from the aid they were supposed to recieve.

How you gonna say ima give you $100 but since you already owe me $50 from some debt you imagined/expected, you only give me $50.

Edit: This is what happened but what they really love is to give you the entire amount so that you owe more and consequently pay more in interest. Leaving you in a perpetual state of debt.

It's not just the payments they need. It's continued access to African resources and control of African markets, especially in their former colonies.

African governments in the CFA Franc regions (there are two of them) don't control their currency; the French treasury does. Most large companies in my country and in much of French-speaking Africa have been bought and are controlled by French corporations. I'm talking about everything from agriculture, transportation companies, utilities, beer-making, etc... The names of the branches remain local, but the CEOs and other executives are mostly French. There are many reasons that explain that, from the impact of military power in international relations and international trade, as well as the shortsightedness of some African presidents in adopting austerity policies between the 80s and 90s and privatizing much of the public sector. Let's not forget the unwillingness of many African politicians to build strong institutions because most think they are entitled to power and political influence.

I mean if a dude owes me 100
And needs more money
I might not give him the whole amount either
