Black Culture Discussion Thread

nah man, there is nothing more symbolic in a mans love for his people that a representation of who he decides to share his love with. End of story

Im not saying people like Harry Belafonte, Sidney Potier arent great men, but if you wanna be real down for your people you need to marry a black woman and build your life with them. Double end of story
Yeah, nahhhhh.

People fall in love with who they fall in love with. Requiring black people only to marry other black people seems like it has more to do with other black people wanting to feel comfortable than about someone being down for their community.

There are many more tangible ways folk can support their community than that. Hell Ben Carson is married to a black woman, and tons of white supremacy supporting black people are married to other black people.

Btw, it is kinda weird to me that if a white person says to another white person to stick to your own race that is considered racist (rightfully so). Or when Asian and Latino parents get mad at their kids bringing home black significant others, that gets called out as bigotry (which it should)

Yet, some black people think it acceptable to shame other black people when they engage in interracial relationships.

Love who you want to love, marry who you want to marry, but still be down for fighting for justice. Nawghty ain't got a damn thing to be ashamed of IMO.

I just hope he doesn't "sample" from black-owned grocery stores doe.

its different ways to look at it

cuz some people might say how do we fix problems like the black home and family structure

when its seen as upward mobility to date out so to speak?

minority or ethnic people marrying shouldnt be looked down upon so to speak

but its just the fact that bucking and wenching have to be derided in order to establish a position of power within society

black men and black women making black children

the power of this cannot be understated

as the foundation we can begin to talk about ways to empower one another

just my 02

There is absolutely nothing wrong with dating and marrying interracially. I dated a white girl in college, and I'm not a bad guy.

This is where it's fact. If you want to be down for the cause and be about black upliftmeng worldwide, you need to marry a black woman only. You can be about the uplfitment of your people on a macro level and you cannot commit to a black woman on a micro level. PERIOD

You seem to be confusing what is your opinion, with what is a fact.

But whatever famb, agree to disagree

I disagree, I would much rather see nawgtyhare giving back to the community and volunteering his time and knowledge with the underprivileged than marrying a black woman. As you stated, there's nothing wrong with interracial couples. I'm not gonna judge that man, or any man, for who they fell in love with.

Ok so I love being black
All my kids are full black except my youngest
Whose 1 years old
I try to instill in my oldest kids
To be happy and proud to be black
And to never let anybody tell u that ur nothing but Kings and queens
I tell this all the time to my oldest
I explain racism
We talk about it
And everything
Just..... idk
me and my wife been together for 10 years
And she’s seen racist stuff happen to me
But it’s different from when my other kids mother and I were together and racist stuff happened.
I can’t explain it like
My wife has seen and understands it
But it’s hard to explain
I just feel that my kids mom and other black folks understand it more than someone who isn’t black
U know what I mean
And I just wonder how this will work out with my wife
Cause Filipinos in themselves are racist against one another specially with skin color
And idk
I’m just realizing how difficult it may be to raise a biracial kid.
And how sometimes
While I love my wife
How it’s hard to explain to her what it feels like to be black
Just like she can’t explain to me what it feels like to be Filipino.
I’m kinda getting a tear in my eye.
I’m typing this as I sit in the car
before I walk into the house
And I’m tearing up
And I don’t know why

FBI Moves Forward With Black Identity Extremist Arrest In Dallas, TX

https://atxanarchistblackcross.word...ck-identity-extremist-arrest-in-dallas-texas/

December 11, 2017, early on Monday morning, the FBI and ATF kicked down the door of Rakem Balogun after following him for over two years issuing a warrant for a charge of alleged illegal possession of a firearm. Rakem Balogun is leading member of a pro 2nd amendment group named Guerilla Mainframe and Geronimo Tactical, based in Dallas, TX. The organization advocates publicly for the right of Black people to legally carry weapons as part of their 2nd amendment rights. The organization takes a stand against police brutality and Rakem Balogun has also used rhetoric to show his opposition to policing in the Black community as a form of oppression, voicing his “supposed” first amendment rights.

His arrest signals the beginning of the FBI admittingly racially targeted Black Identity Extremist program that targets Black activism and Black political organizers, as threats. This BIE strategy is based on the model of the COINTELPRO actions by the FBI that lead to the disruption of movement activities, the imprisonment of organizers and infighting within the movement. Some of the most well-known activities of COINTELPRO included the attempt to have Dr. King commit suicide and the action by the Chicago police and Federal authorities to murder Black Panther party member Fred Hampton.

Rakem Balogun remains in federal custody, without bail for a charge of allegedly being a “Danger to the community” in addition to this charge. This is unheard of in modern legal proceedings for a charge of this type to not warrant an opportunity for the accused to not post bail. During the arraignment hearing held last Thursday, the US District Attorney stated that they have been watching the Guerrilla Mainframe and other Black political groups for years.

The F.B.I. report detailing the perceived BIE threat specifically discusses the shooting of Dallas police officers in July 2016. The document was prepared by the F.B.I Domestic Terrorism Analysis Unit, and has shown an effort to criminalize political organizers with progressive ethics. The police authorities presented no evidence to tie Mr. Balogun or his organizations to the Dallas killings, but invoked them to paint a broad brush on the danger of Black organizing. The Trump administration has made their desire to derail black organizers through declarations and actions crystal clear. If you demand accountability for illegal police violence, you are now subject to surveillance and potential arrest.

WE, GUERRILLA MAINFRAME, believe in our right to bear arms and to advocate for political freedom. In addition to this arrest, our members have had their jobs visited by the FBI who have interviewed employers and fellow employees. Attempting to intimidate our members and prevent them from making a living is part of the FBI’s plan to disrupt and destroy the Black movement. The BIE classification has grown from a report on paper, to a national investigation of Black Lives Matter and black gun ownership advocates. Rakem Balogun has been classified as B.I.E, we must defend him.

FREE RAKEM BALOGUN: STOP THE F.B.I INTIMIDATION OF G.M.F AND ALL SOCIAL AND POLITICAL JUSTICE ORGANIZATIONS. FREE OUR COMRADE AND BROTHER

We as African/Black people have been burdened in the Americas for over five centuries. We rise and organize against oppression when we meet it. We are often discouraged from fighting for liberation and seeking freedom. Our mothers and fathers keep us safe from a world considered not for the children of the enslaved or the undesired. A system of bondage often referred to as the Prison Industrial Complex, becomes a place where millions of us are held daily. Now the U.S government, through the F.B.I., have created a new terrorist classification known as the “Black Identity Extremist”. This conjured classification targets our political leadership and mirrors J. Edgar Hoover’s infamous COINTELPRO program of the 60’s and 70’s. Both programs have been specifically designed to disrupt and destroy black political organizations from achieving real equality and justice.

On Monday morning at 5 am, the FBI and ATF kicked Rakem Balogun’s door down and took him into custody, on a seek and destroy mission in search for illegal weapons. Since that day he has been held captive; essentially kidnapped by the F.B.I.

The F.B.I. report detailing the perceived BIE threat specifically discusses the shooting of Dallas police officers in July 2016. The document was prepared by the F.B.I Domestic Terrorism Analysis Unit, and has shown an effort to “criminalize” political organizers with progressive and revolutionary ethics. The Trump administration and prior Presidents have made their desire to derail black revolutionaries through declarations and actions crystal clear. Our struggle as change agents is to instruct and liberate the masses with revolutionary discourse, and we will continue to do so.

Simply, we have a love for our community and people that allow us sanctuary even in the midst of a fraudulent criminal justice system. Rakem Balogun is a co-founder of Geronimo Tactical, Huey P. Newton Gun Club, and a principal member of Guerrilla Mainframe. Our comrade has been a part of many discussions and activities for Black liberation. He synchronized security operations on April 2nd in South Dallas that ran BAIR, a right winged group of armed Trump supporters, out of the Black community and away from Mosque 48. Rakem has stood as an example for the community on issues such as political education, fratricide, and community development. He has been committed to the community, so we will be committed to him.

We, the Rakem Balogun Defense Committee request that you materially and financially support our brother as he fights prosecution by the Federal Government. WE, GUERRILLA MAINFRAME, believe in our right to bear arms and to advocate for political freedom. Finally, we must state that we have had a number of visitations and issues as it relates to the FBI this year. The BIE classification has grown from a report on paper, to a national investigation of Black Lives Matter and and black gun ownership advocates. Rakem Balogun has been classified as B.I.E, we must defend him, stand with him as he has stood with us!

My man Nawgthy having a moment :lol

I like how homie set the tone by calling Meghan out as a half breed for her downplaying her African American background.

Great panel though the woman who looks like brand ambassador for the AKA sorority starter kit is very triggering.

I want to take back what I said about Ayesha. After watching a few of the other grapevine videos I realized she is very on point in addressing topics from an intellectual perspective. Her approach is very valuable to all these conversations and trumps the emotional responses to the various topics.

I enjoyed her input. It was a refreshing take.

Controversy Looms as Mythical Achilles is Played by Black Actor in New BBC Epic
by Tasos Kokkinidis Jan 2, 2018

Social media users have expressed their anger at a new series produced by the BBC and Netflix in which Greek mythological figures such as Achilles, Patroclus and Zeus are being played by black actors.

In the Troy: Fall of a City, an eight-part series that chronicles the Greek siege of the city of Troy, Achilles is played by Interstellar, Cloud Atlas and Man in an Orange Shirt star David Gyasi.

The same character was played in the 2004 film Troy by Brad Pitt.

Here are some of the responses by social media users:

  • Homer in the Iliad repeatedly describes Achilles as “blonde” and “golden”-haired
  • Africans had nothing to do with Greek mythology or ancient European history. Who in their right mind could see and enjoy this new TV series?
  • This is blatant racism towards Greek people, and I am shocked by the audacity of the BBC to try and rewrite Greek history.
  • Question, would anyone be mad if I made movie about US history, and actor playing Obama would be white?
Some other have also threatened to cancel their membership on Netflix.

The Troy drama will be screened first on BBC One, early 2018.

The series has an impressive cast with Shameless’ David Threlfall, Chloe Pirrie, from War And Peace, and Frances O’Connor, from Mr Selfridge, heading the bill, along with two newcomers, Australian Louis Hunter and Bella Dayne, from the science fiction TV series Humans.

The show is written by David Farr.
