Black Culture Discussion Thread

It's a minister, who I just assumed was Farrakhan but may not be, saying something like

"As long as they can kill one of ours and then go home and go to sleep at night? Nothing will change. But as soon as they kill one of ours, and then we kill one of theirs....all of a sudden we're going to sit at a TABLE! And start to discuss" (how we can move forward)

Can't find the clip, but that's what it makes me think of. Anybody know who said it or have the audio or video??

"As long as they kill us
And go to Wendy’s and have a burger and go to sleep
They gon' keep killing us
But when we die and they die
Then soon we gon' sit at a table, and talk about it, we tired
We want some of this earth
Or we'll tear this goddamn country apart!
Assalam ualaikum!"

My "issue" with the video is whenever a white person does ANYTHING remotely close to them showing some sort of "flavor" ots guaranteed that you will have some black folks there hyping them up and if they deserve some sort of praise.

Not even close to being applicable champ. This isn’t a Trayvon Martin situation with a completely innocent young man or anything of the sort.

This kid in Cincinnati was in a stolen car…..he probably was the kid who stole the car but we’ll see what else is revealed about him in the upcoming days. He ran from police, and was in possession of a gun. A total disaster on the kids end, and even worse yet……bad parenting on a the so called father’s end.

Ain’t going to be no meeting at the TABLE TO DISCUSS anything because the father will be in jail for a very long time……if not sent to death row.

I thought part of the brilliance of "OJ: Made in America" is that you go into it thinking that the most important thing is what evidence they have that will make the case for his innocence or make the case for his guilt. And by the time you get into it, you realize whether he did it or not is irrelevant. It's a fantastic documentary.

There's a similar dynamic here. Looking at the details of what the police allege in this specific case are the first things that come to mind. But were someone to make a documentary about Cincinnati and what led to this moment, there would be a similar revelation.

Looks like prosecutors are seeking the death penalty for the dad. As someone on Reddit said - "an eye for an eye for an eye." Which notably is the biblical context Farrakhan was referring to in that quote.

“A documentary about Cincinnati and what led to this moment”…..let me save you the time and energy champ. What led to this was another black father that wasn’t involved in his sons life. Another halfway father that didn’t pick up on the signs of his child’s misguided life, didn’t know his sons friends and didn’t monitor who he was hanging with. A negligent father that realized he did next to NOTHING while his son was here alive, and once he found out his son was dead and gone, he went the EMOTIONAL route and literally crashed. Thus leaving him and the rest of his family for dead alone in this world as he’s about to join his son six feet under. The end. Holla.

I think she just needs to dismiss people bringin up these questions and keep it about business (maybe the full interview is different). Its annoying that people are making this her brand now and always at the forefront.

For his personal life, pull him to the side in the background if you have a problem with some chick he's talking to and keep it moving. His dad needs to be helping him navigate this arena. He's probably a momma's boy (or lowkey lgbt) so wont call her out on it in public. Imagine if Lamar's mom did this.

You ever been to a country western bar and did some line-dancing?

Explain what happens there.
The same thing that happens when a white girl dances at a black gathering, the same thing when a black person speaks another person’s native language to them. Happy people like it when other people relate to them.

Yea not sure that's the same thing at all. That is an actual EVENT, structured/controlled environment. The video above wasn't.

A lot of the things that we pat white folks on the back for showing any level of competency are often times the same things white folks want to try and shame us for doing/having the culture of doing.

Let a black person be in a white restaurant and start acting the way that white girl was acting in the video. We would be ALL types of names., and there will be ZERO pats on the back.

So yea, as I said we are SO easily impressed at times.

THAT is not the same thing at all. She was what looks like a "black restaurant" doing "black things". Whats bolded is more of a black person at a "white" establishment doing "black" things. Like twerking at a Ball event. You're going to get looked at crazy black, white, yellow or green because it's out of place. My point is it does happen the other way around. Mirrored even. Try singing "Under the Bridge" at a karaoke spot. You'd have to be outside messing with folks to know that, tho as its not as spectacular because we are THEM so it doesn't get posted online as much. I swear its like some of yall have never HAD to deal with a pure-and-tee saltine because you say the same things, you just swap out "white" for "black".

You know black folks started line dancing as well…. That’s not a white thing. We just let them have it. Blacks were doing country as well :lol :lol :rollin

White folks were never booty shaking at any point in their history, until they encountered us doing it.

And, he doesn’t even realize that his own people had a part in the creation of line dancing and country music:lol :lol :lol

I think you're getting a tad bit romantic.

You forgot black folks had a hand in folk, country, and bluegrass music?????

You forgot that we’ve been doing tribal and line dances welllllll before we ever left the motherland?

You’re unaware that we did line and communal dances at our juke joints and saloons as well??? :lol :lol

Po feller

Damn, some of ya’ll don’t be knowing nothing. I actually kind of feel bad for you guys sometimes
