As far as the other way around…..YES, to answer your question. Using your example Shannon’s Hall of Fame induction can be seen as a proud moment in general, particularly to black men if you listened to his speech.
Again, I’m speaking from a collective IMAGE standpoint. You have to or should that once you reach a certain point in life or in your career you are a target and should move accordingly. Ain’t nothing to be scared or worry about. There’s enough prior examples out there for black men to know that the enemy is coming. Which is a great opportunity to show and prove as far as I’m concerned.
I specifically remember Shannon mentioning his brother during his speech and him wanted his brother to be inducted as well. Saying….”just look at the numbers”. I thought it was noble for him to want his brother (who even Shannon says was like a father to him growing up) Sterling to be where he was. It was good to see one black man highlight another black man like that….even during HIS moment.
Did Obama uplift black men up from a collective image standpoint when he was elected??

Not sure how a football player's induction into the NFL Organization's Hall of Fame or his decision to trick off all his money with white women impacts my life in the slightest, just because he happens to be a Black man.
Sounds like Respectability Politics IMHO.
Colin Kaepernick would be more of a reflection on Black People because he gave up his career to speak out, and successfully sued the NFL for blackballing him, not because he played for the 49ers and made it to the Super Bowl.
NGL, I had no idea the National Anthem contained racist verses before he did what he did.
If anything, we shouldn't be praising actors, singers, movie stars, or athletes as "leaders" or "role models" unless they're willing to lose it all by standing up and speaking out for the plight of Black people in America. Ex: Jackie Robinson, Muhammad Ali, Harry Belafonte, Craig Hodges, Jim Brown, etc.
Malcolm X spoke about this very thing decades ago, and how dangerous it is because rich, powerful people select our leaders for us.
Anyways - Shannon Sharpe is a lifelong simp. If he prefers to trick with his money, then that's his business.
Seems to me we are doing a lot of victim blaming instead of focusing on the perpetrators of the shake down.
And let there be no confusion, Shannon Sharpe is indeed the victim of a shakedown. The fact that he's a trick doesn't mean he isn't a victim.
Two things can be true at the same time.
Yes - Mr. Sharpe is a certified and proud trick/simp who prefers the company of / transactional relations with whores.
Yes - the Lawyer and the "victim" are liars who are only interested in extorting people using the legal system as a tool to extract resources.
Not sure how either of those things reflects on Black people as a whole.

Was I proud that a black man was elected? Absolutely.
Did I vote for him twice? Sure did.
Was I extremely disappointed with the results? Yup.
Did I learn from my misplaced pride and unwarranted jubilance? Sure did.
Was I fooled the next time they brought out a black face? Nope.
Did I vote for Kamala Harris? Absolutely not.
This was the first election since I was eligible to vote that I stayed home.

I figure White people would rather adopt White babies so that isn't an issue to me. I infer waiving fees for adopting other races just means there are less White babies available and/or other Races don't care for adopting frequently enough.

The presidential race in this country is always between 2 people (the respective candidates of each major party), which means it’s always “the lesser of 2 evils.” There’s no one walking the earth who I agree with about everything, not my best friend, not my wife, not my parents and certainly not a presidential candidate. That said, one party actively works to harm citizens, especially black citizens & other minorities. This administration immediately got in office and said if you’re black with a high ranking govt position, you aren’t qualified. They fired the joint chiefs of staff and replaced him with a guy who needed a waiver to get the position. They’re cutting any funding they can if a company/organization thinks non white men deserve a shot and are qualified.
Now since youre in this thread and was proud that Obama was elected, I assume you’re black. (I know I can be wrong here. )Based on just the stuff up there, proudly declaring you absolutely didn’t vote for Kamala is insane. Even if you’re not black, trump is ruining the country by any objective measure.
