They ask what you do for a living to figure out how you can be useful to/for them. Especially if we're talking about building a network. Keep it a buck. The respect thing is true to am extent, but best believe they are sizing up how you can benefit them first and foremost.

Plus, giving respect based on a person's job/where they are at in life...I get it. But please don't make the mistake of talking down to Joe Schmo or treating him less than simply because of a job title.

Plus I factor in your upbringing as well. If your black daddy had a white wife, I'd honestly expect you to lean toward white women because your mother is your first love and, more often than not, your wife is a reflection of your mother's qualities. Same for a mixed woman that had a white dad...it's less of an expectation there, but it's no shock when she prefers white men.

End of the day, I can't control what anyone does but myself so I ain't gonna give it a ton of energy. But I'll probably be judging a little. Not a ton. I ain't gonna bad mouth you to anyone. But trust I gave my wife or whoever the black person nearest to me one of those looks.

I don’t have kids, but of COURSE they’d be taught that black is beautiful and to never feel inferior.
