Was in vegas this past weekend and checked out ARIA for the first time (didnt stay there) and I wasnt feelin the decor at all.  Seems a bit too cold like it could be a modern airport or bus terminal or somethin.

Me and my boys had a couple of suites at Planet Hollywood Towers (connected to regular PH via the Miracle Mile of Shops).  I was a bit annoyed that my boy booked this place cause I thought it was some cheap timeshare type of joint without its own casino (gotta walk 5 min to PH).  Upon arrival though I was very impressed.  The suites were a good size, 1500 sq ft or so for the 2 bedroom suite.  Added bonus, they have a projector and probably 8ft tall projection screen to go along with all the other flatscreen tv's in the place.  I dont remember what we paid, but it was fairly cheap, even for a holiday weekend.

Personally, I am a South Strip guy myself.  Even though I feel that Total Rewards gives better comps (Harrahs/Caesars/Paris/Ballys/PH/etc...) I just like the vibe of the MGM hotels better, and the customer service there is top notch.  I typically like to stay at Mandalay or MGM.  Refuse to ever stay at Luxor again.  If I get comps or discounts, my first choice will be The Hotel @ Mandalay, only because they took care of me when I was there in January.  My boy got really drunk and put his elbow through one of the walls, pissed on the middle of the floor of the living room, we smoked trees and stoges in a non-smoking room, and they didn't charge me anything extra (to date... knock on wood).  Talk about service!

I've seen some good package deals with the Stratusphere, Riviera, and Tropicana but don't know if they are good at all. I heard Stratusphere is kind of at the end of the strip and not in a good location?

Any info guys?

Wow.  surprised no one mentioned Paris.  That's right in the center of the Strip directly across from Bellagio.

More affordable than the high-end casinos(Wynn, Encore, Venetian, Caesars), but not basement status like Riviera or Imperial Palace.

Valet parking, the front desk and the main elevators are about a minute away from each other.

If I were you, this being your first trip to Vegas, get closer to the center of the Strip.  If you don't wanna blow the wallet at the high end casinos, there's always Paris, Monte Carlo or even New York New York.

And listen to some of the previous advice...
- pick up the Player's Card for whatever hotel you'll be at.  Their free and if  you're a gambler, you can only benefit.
- try the $20 trick at the front desk.  You may be upgraded to a better room.

If you're interested. I'm selling my Mirage Deluxe Guest room accomodation cause I can't make it. Check the sig for more info or pm me if you want.

I agree, it's much cheaper than the 5 stars hotels. Bally's isn't bad either. it's connected to Paris, and it's even cheaper than the Paris.

Ok guys I just came back from Vegas this past weekend and stayed at the Bellagio for the first time.  I was a little dissapointed with the room considering the price that I paid.  I mean, it was basically a normal standard room nothing too extravagant.  Def think theHOTEL @ Mandalay Bay was nicer looking, but I also know it's newer.  But overall, service was pretty good, and if you don't mind rolling with an older crowd, like GA said, this place is good.  Bunch of high end shops, and decent food.

Also doesn't help I got hit hard @ the tables all weekend.  But overall, it was a pretty good time.

Bumping this thread from a few weeks back. After much research I'm looking at the Flamingo. I can get a package on airfare/3nights there for 291. Seems too good to pass up. Would love to stay at the Wynn, that place looks amazing...buts it would cost me over 500 at the same place for a package deal.

Thoughts on Flamingo? I heard they have one of the better pools on the strip. I know its an older hotel.

I've stayed at a good amount of Vegas hotels (TI, Caesar's, Palazzo, MGM, Flamingo, Vdara, PH, + some places off the strip) It really depends on what you are looking for out of your stay. Location wise...I would recommend staying toward the Northern end of the strip, that seems to be where most of the action is in terms of night-life (XS, tao, tryst, lavo). Out of everything, I had the best time at Palazzo...every room is nice there, great location, decent prices.

i stayed @ caesar's.

it was comped so i don't have an idea how much it is but it wasn't bad at all.

i stay with harrah's properties because of the perks from being a member so i stay biased.

Here's the thing w/ Flamingo...  which room are you booking?  Find out for sure which one it is because if you're going w/ a bunch of dudes...  you MAY wanna avoid the Go Room.

Yes, they do have older rooms.  But they also have newly redone rooms.  They're on the "contemporary" side... new flatscreens, new decor, etc... But the bathroom has this see-through type of deal, so unless you're going w/ your lady...  it may be a little "ayooo" for a group of fellas.

It's not completely see-through, but I guess it's more for a couple rather than a group of people.
However, also in the bathroom is a small lcd tv in the mirror.

Pool-wise, Flamingo's legit.  They have the tropic theme and I think they got a waterslide, IIRC.

I'm going my first time in July. I'll be staying at Planet Hollywood. Any strip clubs you guys can recommend?

Harrah's has the best location[most poppin area of the strip, surrounded by mirage/caesars/ti/venetian/wynn/encore] & i've heard good things about harrah's value wise. bang for the buck type of place From what i've been told. For me location is definitely important

I think MGM is too far from all the action. but it was nice when i stayed there a while ago

Hard rock is off strip but they have vanity and rehab there. If you're trying to hit those spots you probably won't even have to leave

I've been thinking about going to Las Vegas so this thread is helpful. I've heard good things about the Wynn...
