I think this is solid. Someone a few pages back posted a picture of a book that has the -stain title, but I still read it as -stein. And didn't even realize it until I looked at it again. I also remember reading the books one time as a kid a being surprised that it was spelled -stain. But who knows. Maybe I'm trying to convince myself

I've asked everyone I know, from my age 35+ to kids around 8yrs+ and they all spell it BerenstEin ......I mean, how dumb can we all be if we can't tell the difference between STEIN and STAIN.....I mean pronouncing it is just such a high variance that there is no way you mis-spell it. I think I mentioned this before in the threat but I worked arbitrary a library like 12 years ago in the children's section. I distinctly remember shelving these books and they were berenstein. It stuck with me because there were a bunch of them and I had to read the titles to make sure they were in ABC order.
