Basketball Thread About Nothing

Tall guy that shoots 3's = A PG to actual basketball player.

:lol I try to tell dudes this.

I'm 6ft and cats always tell me "man, I'f I had your height I'd be dunking, blocking shots, alley oops, blah blah blah"

And I just laugh, cause in reality, being 6ft doesn't change a damn thing :lol

Yeah I can dunk, but it ain't like I'm about to run the floor like Lebron. Short people have a horrible perception of what "tall" really is.

I'm barely Rondo's height. When the last time you seen Rondo or CP3 throwing self oops off the backboard?

This ain't no team flight brothers :rollin

Blocking shots I can understand, though, because that depends on the height of people around you. If you're 6ft, I would expect you to swat more than a handful of shots if you're playing with shorter dudes.

Dunking off oops though, that's a different story :lol

I hate the dudes who call fouls for other people on the team. I don't get it if the person who got fouled didn't think it was a foul it's fair game.
Another pet peeve is calling a weak foul at game point it's like a cop out for when you miss it.

You don't have to be Shaq but at least play in THE PAINT at some point during the game :rolleyes

If you have the size and or strength advantage playing down low isn't hard :lol

This. What's worse is when you do play the post and the other guys on the team don't know how to feed the post or just stand there so their defender crashes in on you.

THIS!! :{

dudes can't throw a simple post entry pass for ****. Then refuse to cut to the strong side.

the one guy who cant play (and isnt that big either) but refuses to leave the paint so it just clogs up the lane for his teammates

these are pretty on point haha Jim Rome should add them to his list

what about the shorter guy that likes to post up and the big man that likes to jack 3's!

whats wrong with trying to trick someone from the other team to pass YOU the pall? meh.

I do it all the time. :lol

If somebody on the court is silly and scared enough to just throw the ball to the wrong team that's on them. I'll be like "I'm trailing you" or "come on let's go" while I clap my hands. And sometime some fools throw it to me

I've played some guys that all they do is this. Standing at the top of the key on defense pretending to be on offense. But if it's the open court and you're in transition, I see no problem with it as long as you are getting back to play d.

The foul guy! Haha

Come on man, why stop the game, we're just trying to get some cardio.

I always do this if I'm playing against players I don't know and they wouldn't expect it..

When the opponent look like he want to pass the ball.. I'll make a loud clap.. And they will pass me the ball.. Also because I'm a nice guy.. I'll always tell them "thank you"..

They forgot the "im gonna let everyone know you fouled me but I dont call fouls" guy when he pretty much calls a foul but doesnt want the ball.

Him: damn bruh..we out here hacking people..
Fouler: alright your ball. Check up.
Him: nah I dont call fouls
Fouler: ok...

rinse and repeat every time he touches the ball, with just another way to say he was fouled
im the guy who gets hacked, wont call it, but will dish it right back, and the moment you complain, im ready to fight

*shrugs*

Whether or not you want to call legit fouls has nothing to do with you fouling me.

I'm not one to hack a lot but I don't give up easy layups if I'm the help defender. I'm going to give a clean hard foul and if you want to let hard fouls slide...

at the dad & son. So annoying. They could've added the 5 minute crossover guy that tries to pull an and 1 move every time. Also the sweaty guy that never wants to put on a shirt
sick.gif
luckily ive only played with the father and son duo once, the most annoying is when you get a run, and the next team is all kids, i mean 10-12, and you cant tell em watch out, its a total waste of energy, even a 7-0 blowout is too much effort cause you know its going to happen

+1 to the HotSauces around the world, i can never go a game without one on my team

and maybe its just me, but theres always a guy who has the inflated ego, like swears hes D1 potential but is only hs varsity starter in an easy division/district at best

or the guy with dum hops, but has no real bball skills, once you shut off the baseline, hes null

I average about four of these a game or get them to get ready to pass the ball (before they realize I'm not on their team) and they turn it over, double dribble, travel, jump up to pass and land with the ball, or even carry the ball. But, I'm to the point now that if they pass me the ball when I am on defense I just look at it go out of bounds and say loudly WILL YOU PLEASE PUT THE BALL IN A POINT GUARDS HANDS. What I always do is guard a scrub who can't play or has no basketball acumen, and do the things that he should be doing i.e., cut to the hoop, go to the open area, set screens, all while on defense. Or when our team scores (and they are about to inbound) I start complaining and say will somebody please guard that dude, complain about nobody playing defense etc., clap for the ball and lay it right back in the basket. Matter of fact got somebody like that on gamepoint today, when the gym was packed. Man that entire team was heated....

Or another one of my favorites is when they check the ball up top and I am guarding my man on the wing area and I bait him up by saying if you cut to the hoop right now you will beat me to the basket, I'm so tired. My man cuts to the basket I cut to the man checking the ball and EVERYTIME they inbound it to me and I am already moving towards the basket so I have everybody beat for a breakaway basket. That one has almost got me in some major trouble so I have to mind the competition in the gym before I do that one. I always wait until game point to do this one.

Another one that I use is when somebody on the other team gets trapped I run to the open area where he can make an pass to where a team mate should be. That goes back to that saying that pressure busts pipes -- people who can barely dribble DO NOT want the ball when they get trapped, it's like a hot potato.

All the tricks I pull stem from a few things they teach you when you are young -- look up when you dribble, and learn how to dribble using your off hand. When I see dudes that can't do this it is like blood in the water for a shark, way too easy. Dudes get at me for doing this but I always say if I am running around acting like I am on your team what is the dude I am supposed to be guarding doing?? Which goes back to bringing the homeboy who can't play. Basketball is like dating you can't date everybody and you can't play on the same team as everybody...

ok, just dont cry when i bring it back to you

that being said, after hooping so long, you will pretty much have to wrap my arms down to my body, i dont call fouls, because if im at the cut (slasher, no jumper whatsoever) im not about to miss a layup whether you undercut me, push me, smack me in the face, if my hands go up with the ball, its a point

:x I forgot about cherry pickers :{

NEVER play defense cause they're too busy waiting for a steal/block/missed shot and pass for the easy layup :{ :{

I hate that guy whether he's on my team or not. If he's on my team, I'm pissed cause theres always a man open. If he's not on my team I'm pissed cause its a ******g cheap tactic to get easy buckets without actually doing anything.
