hey guys I have been on nt for a long time but i couldn't recover my old sn so had to make a new one! not sure why it took so long..

Anyways, i graduated university last year. I couldn't find a steady job for the longest time. i was working odd jobs here and there and volunteering at a hospital. I have a bsc in human kinetics.

Along with that i also decided to apply for a diploma in accounting. I was thinking of getting a CMA. I live in Canada btw.

Fast forward.. recently i have been offered a job at a recruiting company. They specialize in recruiting for CA's, financial analysts and people with mathematics/stats background. This job is purely commission based. You share a pool with the rest of the recruiters. The guys are young and i think i would enjoy the work environment.

I also got an offer from UPS as a corporate sales associate. They are offering base plus commission. I am not sure what the work environment will be like. If anyone has any idea.. please share.

My question is what are some pros and cons to a job that is purely commission based vs base plus commission other than obviously the money?  so my question is what industry do i have a chance in making more money?

Any recruiters here?

I would take the base + commission deal. Strictly commission based jobs are risky.

Base +. Easy choice.  Maybe you could do the commission only gig as a part-time job to learn the recruiting industry.

Base +...and UPS is the better company

The best thing you can do is live off your base totally and then you can stack and/or play with the commission check.

Yea i am leaning towards the base + commission as well. Both are very similar jobs. I would be searching for new clients.

Recruiting industry would be better as experience i think.

I will be having to make some serious career decisions come september. I am 24 and i wanna go back school while i still can.

Anyone ever jumped from healthcare to business/HR? My main goal was to be a physio or occupational therapist when i first started my degree. There is money to be made within the health industry but it is very competitive.

I appreciate the input so far guys.

Base plus commission, learn to live off the guaranteed and the commission will be a nice bonus. (Also depends on how much you make as a base salary)
