Automatic Vs. Manual

Manual all day! It's fun to drive and you have better control of the car

the downfall of it is that I tend to eat in the car and text alot while driving so I normally drive a AT to work and on the weekend I drive my Sti for fun andleisure

i've only owned manual tranmission cars since i started driving.

i'm one of the only people i know that took their driver's license test in a manual transmission car.

i dont have to wait for 3000rpms just for it to switch gears.

3000rpm? that's some pretty severe short shifting. i realize you're trying to save fuel, but i think that's a little overkill.

i don't think i've ever shifted that low. in my current Civic Si, i don't even get to VTEC until it's over 5000rpm.

I got a 5th Gen Prelude and if it was Auto, it wouldn't be half as fun to drive.

My first car was and still is a CB7, got it last year and it was manual.
Pretty much forced to learn to drive it.
At first i hated it because my 1st gear shifting was horrible.
After a while u get the hang of it and I love it!
Way more in control and responsive.

Both of my cars are manual by choice. I enjoy it, but it's not for everyone. Everyone isnt a car/driving enthusiast, so it's not"BORING!!!!!!!111" to those types. It would be more of a convenience I guess. If I were to get another car, it would probably be auto.

I'm a dad now so I need the freedom to be able to reach back and throw discipline if my child gets out of line.
Automatics for me until I get a weekend sports car.

It really depends if the car is sporty or not.

If it's not sporty, I'd just get an automatic.

If it's sporty, I'd get a manual. It makes driving a fun experience, not just a drive...

While I love the feel of stick (did I just say that?), I would say go with automatic because they have less problems, less maintenance and if you drive in traffic a lot it makes a huge difference.

oh and you need to learn to drive manual whether you want to or not.
you have no idea what you are talking about. manual transmissions go and go and go. Learn how to drive one properly and they can last the lifetimeof the car.

Auto's on the other hand ALL like to take a crap around 120-130k miles from what ive seen.
All my cars have been with manual transmission, my parents have auto idk gets boring..

Manual is easy and fun....but sometimes i don't feel like shifting gears and using my left foot....auto ftw....but manual for sports cars (why auto?)

The 7 series was never made in manual

The 7 in transporter was a 1 of 1 and does not count

cause you have to rev the hell out of that motor compared to most others.  i shift at 2k all the time in my gti (vr6).  i think i could even merge on the freeway without going above 3k.

cosgin, everyday driving i'm usually shifting between 2500 and 3500. If your going over 5000 everytime and engaging VTEC in every gear, well, i highly doubt that.

Everytime i try to drive a stick, i get the same herky jerky results

I may buy a $600 beater to learn in. It' seems so cool to shift gears on the highway

I think almost everyone would advise against this. It's a 350z, it's a sports car, it is an injustice to drive auto

Seriously though, if I were you, I'd learn how to drive manual (have a friend teach you), and then test drive both and see which you prefer. Even ifit's your everyday car, that car would be so much more enjoyable if it was a manual.
The first time i saw a mini cooper S in (01 i think) i had to get a closer look..When I saw it was auto i raged so hard that i peed on one of the wheels

I've driven both and stick shift isn't as bad as a lot of people make it seem especially if you're lazy like me. I live in LA and the traffic here can be bad but driving stick shift isn't that bad. It actually keeps me awake on those long drives back home. Besides, I like hearing my engine. Can't wait to do an SR swap

But that whole sports car being manual talk is stupid. They offer options for a reason, not everyone is coordinated to drive manual and if they have the money to buy a 350Z or a Ferrari or whatever, go for it.

I'm driving auto atm, have attempted manual before but, LA traffic FTL when it comes down to manual.

....but personally I think manual makes driving more interesting.

screw manual, thank god they are getting rid of most of them.

give me automatic anyday
