Asian Culture Discussion Thread

I miss AYCE Sushi.

Wish they had spots like that in DC.

I just looked up that DC has a 3% Asian population. Damn, eating out must be rough out there! There's supposedly more Asians in Northern Virginia, right? I'd be making the drive daily if I lived out there.

Having access to good Asian food is extremely important to me. I even hate eating in San Francisco now because of how trash and whitewashed the food is (or how much you have to spend for anything decent). The Chinese and Japanese spots in San Mateo, Korean and Indian spots in Santa Clara/Sunnyvale, Vietnamese spots in SJ>>>>>>>>>anything in the city. Even Fremont is @#$@$@ on SF these days (my Korean wings spot there is the best I've tried outside of Seoul)

the hell does that even mean :lol
Don't even know, didn't even question it...

I stopped looking like a regular "asian" guy and looked like a specific type of asian I guess after growing my hair :{

Anyone in the Bay been to that Laos restaurant in Oakland called Vientian Café? Like a little hole in the wall spot in sort of mid/east Oakland and has high reviews. Went there a month back and it was pretty damn good. It's like a true melting pot spot where all races and even classes go eat. I totally recommend it if you haven't gone.

Yeah, NoVA and DC are within the same vicinity...So there are little pockets of Korean and Chinese spots to hit up. But nothing back home in the Bay Area.

This is where I am happy that i am Asian and even live in the Bay Area. I eat every kind of food imaginable but it helps that I am surrounded by a lot of great ethnic foods and restaurants. Even within the Bay Area, you have a lot of cities that are lacking great culture. It breeds odd people to me that can't eat say sushi or even Indian food. My homegirl who is married to a Mexican guy literally has Mexican food everyday. Because of that, their kids hate anything but that. I think with at least Asians, we are exposed to alot of things or at least like to try whatever is out there. I can't say that about a lot of races. Some just stick to what they are happy with and call it a day.

yea its pretty much just me where I'm at.

pho is the terrible

taste like dish water with vegetables in it

id rather eat egg drop soup from the ghetto wing spot

please explain to me what is in it that makes it so special.

there are other asian spots where i live that have soups that are 100X better than that aquarium water.

annnnd btw i have been to pho places in my state that had very good reviews.....i don't get it.

its the yeezys of asian food.

The pho places around me usually use real beef broth, so it doesn't taste like dish water :lol
Unless you eat pho ga, then they usually use chicken broth

Usually I add lime, mint leaves, and sirarcha to the broth doe

Only the cheap and nasty pho restaurants around here in LA or garden grove have the beef broth that tastes like "dish water" which isn't much out there
