Crazy Rich Asians -- 6 / 8

- First things first, Michelle Yeoh has incredible presence -- she looked like pure elegance and expressed so much with just her face
- Loved the scene where Eleanor/Rachel talked on the stairs -- Eleanor stepping down while Rachel stepped back = putting her in her place
- Wanted to learn more about Nick/Rachel -- they could've fleshed them out more
- Not gonna lie, Rachel saying "I love you" to Nick and crying at the wedding got me in my feels
- Gemma Chan can have it all -- I'm guessing her character was supposed to be the "not every marriage is happy" arc or what Nick/Rachel's marriage can become?
- This was a solid move forward for the culture -- we should be more outspoken about representation and use our $ to support

"Family never says thank you"

Personal note: This movie came at the right time in my own personal development and re-embracing of my culture. While there are definitely flaws with the movie, this is "better than nothing". I'm glad I got to see it and this should make Asians and Asian-Americans proud. Don't let your culture die. Also Eleanor reminded me a lot of my own tiger mom haha.

I’m dead. Vaness Wu opened a bakery in LA it seems like. Dudes doing well as an entrepreneur. No idea what the other guys are doing. I remember they took over Taiwan for a brief few years. All I heard about when I went back

Wonder why this is a sub 100M expectations sort of movie? Kinda surprising that people in China, Singapore, Korea etc aren’t going to watch this.

Probably cuz they always watch all Asian movies over there already. No need for them to make it a priority to watch one from america.

Was that scene supposed to be funny? I was baked when I watched it and thought it was super cringey and extra. My fiancé said it’s supposed to be exaggerated on purpose as a comedic effect.

"Embarrassment of riches" + extra AF was what they were going for.

Went and saw the movie on Saturday. My girl wanted to go, she’s Filipino and I’m not the rom com type but I was really entertained. Every time Jimmy o yang appeared on screen I couldn’t stop laughing. He’s my fav character on silicon valley
