Are you content with being average NT?

It depends on what your definition of average is. Using the NT definition of "money/acquisition of physical posessions = success" then there are very few successful teacher/social workers, etc. The older I get (still only 24) the less concerned I am with clothes, cars, having a whole bunch of stuff. I just wanna be happy and have autonomy in whatever I'm doing. I don't know if I'll ever be "NT successful" but I don't really care. My dad is a very well off dude and he's a grumpy unhappy dude (even though I love him to death). He's had to sacrifice so much to get wealthy and for what? just to keep sacrificing more and making more money?

If we are talking salary wise, here in AZ the average person makes $33,000 a year. I am not cool with that and am working to make more than that. But at the end of the day, if my family is living well and I'm not living paycheck to paycheck, I'm good

It's funny how average is being determined by how much money you make, wife, car, house etc.
If you have money in the bank, in your wallet, and spare change in a dish someplace . . .

you are among the top 8% of the world’s wealthy.

I would say that is above average.

I don't think average is the best way to put it, I think it's more like a mediocre life. Where the situation you are in is just ok, nothing bad, and nothing good. You aren't exactly happy or sad, so you just keep doing w.e. you're doing. People can be happy making no money if they're happy with the situation that they're in.

I would like a good salary, but if I'm doing a job I really like, then the money becomes less of an issue.

Absolutely not. Because at the end of the day, all the people that was rooting on me to fail, at the end of the day they have to wake up tomorrow and have the same life that they had before they woke up today. They have the same personal problems they had today. I’m going to continue to live the way I want to live and continue to do the things that I want to do with me and my family and be happy with that.
this is the level you want to achieve

Seriously don't bother trying to gauge how average your life is just worry about being happy and content

Yessir!

Average as in how much money I have? I'm perfectly fine with that. I don't get thrills from spending all my money on pointless objects that just waste time, I like to spend my time learning and helping people. This does not require much money and brings me endless amounts of joy.

This!

isn't it hard to support a family with 70k a year? I hear a lot of people have to work real hard to maintain supporting their family making 65-70k.

When I was little, My mom always told me that
Happiness is the key to life.
when i went to school, we got an assignment asking
what we want to be when were older.
My response was "Happy", the teacher told me
that i didn't understand the question.
I told her that she didn't understand life.

-John Lennon

Whatever your definition of "average" is, i believe your sole focus in life should be to find happiness

Am I content with being average no but when reality hits u and u see how different life is when u have priorities none of that matters as long as you and your family are eating, roof over your head and have a steady income. That's it. Plus it's not like everyone thinks their life will be average but life doesn't always turn the way u want things to go. Anyone feel me?

if we're talking about necessities, 70k is more than enough for an avg sized family.

In all honesty, however I end up I just want look back and know I was happy. I've been through highs and lows in my life and have learned that nothing is more important than being happy and fulfilled. I'm sure everyone wants to earn a truck load of money, sleep next to a smoke, etc. Those things don't necessarily equate to happiness however. If they do, then salute/cheers.

^this right here.  Look at how many rich and famous people are miserable and/or suicidal at the end of the day.  Maintaining the happiness of myself and my family and friends is more important than anything else.  No matter what your position is or how much money you're making, if you can wake up everyday feeling good, accept where you're at in life, do your best to work towards your own goals, and you contribute positively to the lives of the people you love, please believe you're above average, cause there's ALOT of miserable mother +*#+*%$ out there walking this planet that from the outside looking in, might look like they're doing it.

Mainly in america we consider the question money and fame wise. There's more to life than how much money you make and no one wakes up and say "I want to live an average life".

this is why I feel that the best living is to live in the jungle (might sound weird) . like how the aborigines people live.
their minds and values aren't corrupted by wealth and fame etc.
their goals are the very simplest things. Their most important things are the naturally instinctive things that humans should embrace. Raising your kids right, teaching the boys how to hunt for food, making sure your kids and wife are happy when dinner time comes around.... its a pretty short list, but they are happy.

Living in modern society corrupts what we all feel is important.

Average living is in the eyes of the beholder... everyone has a different opinion on it. so we all cannot criticize others for having a different opinion.
