Are the DTRT IIIs supposed to look like this?

try using a suede brush to even it out a little..not sure it will work, but its worth a shot

One of my favorite pairs of Js to wear in the summer, period. I have 2 pairs, even. I'd say clean/brush these and you should be good. They do look authentic so don't fret over that.

These weren't cleaned, left in a window, or mistreated in any other fashion. This forum makes me sick sometimes the way one person will state an opinion and then 10 other people will latch on with the exact same (wrong) reply/comment.

That's not the way they're supposed to be necessarily, but nothing is wrong with them. I think with a lot of that run of LS releases, some of the materials were scarce and led to minor shade differences in patches. My Olive 5's are exactly like this. The material that wraps around the toe on the left shoe is lighter, then the rest of the shoe is is darker. The right shoe has a few different light and dark patches throughout. Not that noticeable, but definitely the same sort of thing.

There you have it.
