Retire when I'm 40? Nahh I'm going to keep grinding and set new goals. Once I hit a milli I'll shoot for 2 then 3 and so on. People shouldn't limit themselves or get comfortable.
Must be happy with eating ramen and chilling in the house for the next 40 years of their life. Can't travel or enjoy life with 1M and no income for the next 35-40 years assuming they live to 75-80.
Edit: Like i said they are living extremely frugal and the husband made it up to 140K salary, but for only 3 years wife only made. There are also lot of holes in that article also.

They are very frugal and only spend $40k/year.Retiring early is overrated.

Especially at 40

What's the point of more millions when it'll take up all your years and then you'll be at the age where it wouldn't matter anymore

Key words ! When I retire I don't want to be somewhat comfortable I will be completely comfortable. I couldn't survive off of 50K now if I had to in the DMV area let alone be comfortable, so how could I retire and live comfortably with that? Retiring and still living frugally is not for me. I want to be able to travel and enjoy life however I please by time I retire. 1M is not enough for me to retire off of and have money and property to pass down to future generations.1 million not enough to retire? What the? If I have a million right now... I can live off that investment income solely. A conservative 5% rate of return nets you 50K which is plenty enough (FOR ME) to live somewhat comfortable. I don't get it... do you really think average Americans' net assets at age 50, 60, 70, are worth over 1 million? A good majority of Americans at the retirement age have zero retirement investments and solely depending on Social Security and Medicare.

Only takes a net worth of 33K to be in the 70th percentile for people younger than 35. Its not too hard to beat out other american's, so I don't really care what the average american is doing I focus on myself.

40 at his finest? I'd say the majority of 40 year olds have declined physically compared to in their 20s and 30sJust going to be sitting at home, hitting up Madden-aye movies, and fading lubys for the next 40 years.
Never mind if someone gets sick...
You can retire at 40 but why? That's when a man is at his finest...
Super smart, still can pass for a 30 year old if in decent shape, and probably on track to some major things
Interest rates tick it 1%, all hell would break loose with their money
