Anyone have a 4k Ultra HD television? Help

No it's not a dumb question.... I'm not using the built in soundbar

I bought another soundbar and it came with the subwoofer and the other speakers and they can all talk to each other once the soundbar is connected to the tv
but wouldn't that remove the Dolby Atmos feature since you are not using the built in sound bar with Dolby Atmos built in?

The external soundbar is Dolby atmos capable

Lol I think I got the external soundbar before the update that gave the built in soundbar Dolby atmos capability

I should've probably stayed with a c7 knowing I ended up with an external soundbar.

There's no way a sound bar can't do Atmos/DTS X anyway. Those formats use presence speakers that need to be installed in the ceiling or up upfiring speaker for the proper effect.

Yea I have upward firing rear speakers and the soundbar has upward firing speakers too

I think there are only two Dolby capable soundbars right now and I have one of them

Dts x is different. You don't need Dolby speakers for that

They are actually called Atmos speakers... for atmosphere, not specifically for Dolby formats. There's two different types of DTS X, the older format does not require height speakers.

Yo I hate soccer with a passion. Most boring and over rated sport ever. But I ain’t gonna lie, soccer looks beautiful on a 4K tv. Watched some Barca highlights when I got my new set earlier this month. And was just in awe the whole time. Don’t know what it is lol. I’ll check this clip out when I get home.

Lol I don't care if you want to call it atmos or dolby I was just responding to refute your claim that it couldn't play those formats

It came out of the box capable of Dolby atmos and needed a Dts x update in Nov 2017

I'm spoiled by my oled. I was watching a movie on imax last night and I couldn't see anything during the dark scenes and I kept thinking, I swear my oled can come up with a better picture lol

Dolby Cinema is much closer to my tv picture but don't think it achieves quite the same blacks and contrast ratio

I can't wait until they come up out with hdr capable theaters with also better blacks. Hopefully they can build one at a local area so I don't have to travel like I do for dolby cinrma

I got a Sony 4K player today, too. First movie I picked up was Deadpool. I watched it briefly and liked the picture, when I put in a regular blu ray it didn't seem good at all. That's what made me ask about the cables. I always read that cables don't really matter, but I thought the upscale would've been better.

Well... what blu-ray did you try? The cable should not affect upscaling on standard BDs at all. If you had any issues with the cable at all, it would be when handling UHD discs with HDR, as not all of the older, non-high speed cables have enoguh bandwidth to fully support 4k w/ HDR. I suggest trying different BD discs, ones that already look great.

Is it a sale going on for 4K players?

You can find the entry level Toshiba player at most places like Best Buy for $100, but no wifi according to another user here. Otherwise invest in an Xbox One S, or if you're a hardcore gamer, and Xbox One X, which supports native 4k games.

Just wanted and basic player and was looking for the LG you posted but the price went back up to 200

I'm confused. Are you saying uhd movies look good but then when you try regular bd the picture sucks? Not sure if hdmi cords would explains that issue

I Love You, Man. And I bought newer “high speed” cables that support 4K when I first got the tv.

Yes. That’s what I was saying exactly. I watched some of Deadpool it looked good. I streamed Transformers from Google Play and it looked amazing all the way through. I put in my I Love You, Man blu ray and everything in the background looked bad the whole movie.

Im learning more and more that each movie's picture quality will vary for numerous factors regardless of your setup or even if the flicks original format transfers to true 4K or is 2K upscaled.
