any guitar players here?

new guitar day. decided that a hole in my collection is one stone killer acoustic so I splurged. the price hurt but I got over it the minute I picked it up. I've never even remotely played such a great guitar

two rules:
never get out of the boat
don't check the score in the middle of a jam

Just found this thread. Thought I'd chime in since there don't seem to be many guitar players on NT.

It might be a stretch to call myself a "guitar player". I've played piano and violin and taught myself how to play "More than Words" and a few Bob Marley songs on my dad's old acoustic. Bought a Jackson that I can't even identify on sale from Guitar Center with a 15 watt amp. Chose it because it had the biggest markdown of what I was looking at. From there, taught myself from tabs I got off the internet and Guitar World magazine. Even taught myself from a couple Smashing Pumpkins song books. Got into pedals , too. Can't read notes but I can read tabs. Never thought I got very good. Just got lit and tinkered for hours. That was 25 years ago. Hoping to get back into it.

I always told my 2 sons that if they were good at guitar or basketball, they'd always have friends, and chicks. guitar is a great hobby to either obsessively lean into and be all steely dan about it, or like right now jamming drunkenly on the bass while watching knicks pacers

just spent a lovely few days driving through tennessee. I grew up in a small redneck factory town but have lived and worked in a big city for 30+ years, so my nostalgia for a rural america of yesteryear was poignant and moving

hell yeah man, you sound great, way beyond me but I aspire

there's a compilation of guitar instrumentals coming out and this was mine. can't help but wonder if it's boring outside of my mind but [submit] [whattyagonnado]

Always great to see a Rickenbacker in action. I'm incredibly partial to them.

Great guitar! Been thinking about getting an 000-18GE recently.

Picked up guitar about 10yrs ago courtesy of Marty Schwarz YouTube videos. Lol

I have a Yamaha FG800 acoustic and Yamaha Pacifica strat. Fun to just mess around on both and play some songs. Wish I had time to practice an hour a day but it’s more like 10 minutes

older son is home from college, within 2 minutes of walking in the door he spotted my hooky bass 6 and has been obsessed with it. too bad if he thinks he might be able to take it back to philly lol. sorry my son, that ain't the one

still fun as hell playing with him though

Not sure how many of y’all are familiar with Gogo (DC/DMV genre) but I played guitar for a few different bands over the course of 13 years or so. Definitely wasn’t the best and should’ve been more serious but it exposed me to the musician side of things and it was fun being on stage. Had stopped playing due to personal things and haven’t been able to pick it back up this year because of an injury.

Favorite guitar is a Fender Strat

Had 3 so far:
A cheapie I got as a set initially
A MIM that was a gift from my sister (stolen out my car by jealous “musicians”)
Another MIM that’s been my main for the last 6 years

My last 2 years playing I used the Line 6 POD Go as my main pedal since I could easily dial in the sounds I wanted.

I did in fact decide that my track for the guitar compilation is boring as hell, so I junked it. plus in the discussion among participants, somehow the idea came up that even though this is to be a mix of instrumentals, it would be cool if we could add sample dialogue from movies or whatever. at first I thought it was a dumb idea and resolved that I'm not doing that. but when I recorded a new track, I felt like it needed something a little extra and hey, maybe that sample idea ain't so bad.

if interested. don't worry, it's not too long lol
