This is the problem. My generation is so non-chalant and has this belief that things work themselves out. Aside from maybe 2 of my friends (my age) I can't have a serious topic with them about the state of the world. No one cares about !$@+. Everyone is so wrapped up in materialistic !$@+, twitter, Jordans etc. It's like they are asleep to the true state of the world.

If they wanted this problem could be wiped out tomorrow...but why would they do that? They would have to give up some of their power. EDIT:Haha I know how you feel.

Its that easy, huh? Just a click of a button and *PUFF* all of ourproblems are gone. C'mon now, get serious.

but in regards to our "moral fiber" etc....lol. yeah, please name a time in our history when, morally, we were better off?

as far as policy & progression......it's a slow process as always. in the narrow scope of a short-term time-frame it can often be difficult to see exactly where we are headed.

Unfortunatly the right wing has hi-jacked American politics. And these people, make Nixon look like a God. It's like mass of bible-beatin dullards, who believe the earth is flat and universal health care is the devil are controlling the country, there is a reason to be scared.

I don't see how one party can possibly be blamed for the variety of problems the United States is presently facing. Pointing fingers either does nothing orworsens the situation.

Honestly, I think the only way to go is anarchy, but that can't really be dne overnight. It needs certain steps (capitalism to socialism to communism toanarchy), not to mention a total overhaul of education and culture

The thing is, democrats are right wing, Republicans are just *!$%*#% lunatics.

The 21st century will see the fall of "democracy" just like the 20th century witnessed the fall of communism
EDIT: Democracy only works when we have multiple voices. People think they are getting a "choice" of democrat or republican, but there is verylittle difference in the actions they take.

Yeah I hate that type of ignorance. What makes it worse is that they are proud of it. It really makes me sick.

this. forget about "spreading democracy" to oppressed nations. we have only a faint semblance of democracy here in regards to thefederal government. sure, politicians may write laws, but lobbyists for corporations and special interests rewrite the laws. earmarks, porks, back-roomdealings, that's all a major part of the current american political process. and what are these lobbyists about? the large majority of them exist simplyto pad their corporation's bottom line through the political system. unless we can manage to break their choke hold on policy making, i can't see anykind of real progress.

Kix is right. The bailout was necessary. It might end up profitable. http://www.slate.com/id/2226517/

andycrazn, at least post a counter point. smh at just leaving emoticons to a serious statement.

Economics goes over my head right now. I really need to get more involved with politics and economics. Armed with the right knowledge, I'd love to lead arevolution. Seriously.

WSJ - The Chinese Yuan: The Next World Currency?

The U.S. financial system is in a fragile place. As the bailouts go on- and on, and on- the U.S. and the U.K. will increasingly depend on China, Japan and other nations to buy Treasurys. But Wednesday, a U.K. auction of $2.6 billion in 40-year treasury securities garnered only $2.3 billion of bids. And in the U.S., Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner implied that the dollar could be replaced as the premier currency for world financial reserves-something recently suggested by Chinese officials. (Geithner later backtracked).

That blog article is BS. The reason why the Yuan is surging is because it was fixed for so long compared to the dollar and other currencies on themarket. The Chinese government artificially created that as opposed to letting the currency gain value according to the market which would have never happenedin the case of the Yuan.

Once again NT never fails to bash the right when it can. The left is as guilty if not more than the recent policies put into motion than the right.
