How can you have an "all" Duke team with no Laettner? He is one of the best dudes to EVER play college hoops...also, I would put Bobby Hurley over Jay Williams...and where is Johnny Dawkins?

I beat myself up over not putting leattner up their but, i would still take jay over hurley and im too young to remember johnny dawkins, even though he isone of the greats at duke!

Duke
Hill

Dawkins

C Wilt

You don't want it with this team either.

From a few years ago, the biggest failures I can think of.

CF Patterson
SS Garciaparra
RF Sosa
LF Alou
3B Ramirez
1B Lee
C Barrett
2B Walker

That lineup was bananas and did exactly squat.

The second unit would be

C, Kareem Abdul Jabber
PF, Vlade Divac

PG, Gail Goodrich

The third unit would be

C, Wilt Chamberlain
PF, AC. Green
SF, Robert Horry
SG, Byron Scott
PG, Derek Fisher

I am basing the selections on what they contributed as members of the Lakers and that is why Wilt is on the third team because his best individual accomplishments were with other teams. That is also why Karl Malone, Gary Payton and Dennis Rodman are not listed, because their stints were so short and late in their careers.

Historically, we have not had great pure power power forwards and that is why I slid Worthy and Divac to the four spots for the first and second teams. We have had many great shooting guards and Centers and that is why I wanted to include Vlade as a power forward and the abundance of off guards is why I put scoring guards at the three spot on my first and second teams.

Also, when it came to centers, the reason I give Shaq the nod over Kareem for three reasons. One was that Shaq was clearly the finals MVP in all three finals victories. The second reason is because I believe that Shaq's three finalsd MVP seasons where the finest consecutive three years put together by another player for any team ever in NBA history. Finally, Shaq's teams always made the playoffs and won at least one series every year he was a Laker. You could go either way wit hShaq or Kareem but if you got Worthy and Magic, you already have the high post scoring role filled and Shaq would then dominate in the low post and the high post-low post combo would be amazing to watch.

Finally, the toughest call for me was who to put as the point guard for the third team. I was initially going to go with Nick Van Exel because of the clutch shots and his all star appearance as a laker in '98 but I went with Fish because he has arguable hit even more big shots in even bigger moments and he has played more seasons in LA and plays better D than Nick the Quick did.

I wonder who and in what order other Laker fans will list the myriad greats, who have worn the purple and gold.

Didn't Shaq get swept by the Jazz, and the S[urs when he was a Laker???
