AJ XXX (30)

Yea but they still would have used it tho a year later had then been "done" with the tech.

Kinda like how one of the Melos were a take down of the xx3 and the m10 I think had the xx8 midsole
was there a Melo that was a take down of the xx3?

the M10 was designed by Tinker, so yea. i think they used the xx8 tooling was simply because it was Melo's 10th anniversary shoe and they wanted something that's shows the best of his shoe and Jordan Brand's tech. the M11 kinda morphed back into Melo's own shoe. M12 still has the flightplate tho, it's a similar setup to the M11 with the plate sits on top of the foam.

Tinker's wrong about the 3s/4s/5s, they aren't the same. The midsole and outsole of the 3s were taken directly from the Air Revolutions, and the 4s were taken directly from the Flight '89s. Only the 5s were the first Air Jordan's that were not derivative from any Nike shoe at the time.

That said, I like the launch pair of the 30s, and I agree out of Nike signature lineup (KD, Bron, Kobe) its the best. Not saying a whole lot though since the other sig lines are hot garbage this year.

Yep the m5 but Melos sig shoes have frequently referenced sig Jordans tho.

It's a lazy design that I still like.

Even though the upper looks like a Bounty paper towel.

I'm so conflicted.

idc anyway they slice it. if you couldn't completely redesign the outsole at least could've change it. no jumpman or maybe changing tread pattern at very least.

Negative. This shoe >>>> xx9s. I'm glad these are dropping.
Should've called them 29.5s and spent more time for something epic.

The fact of the matter is no one outside of basketball even realizes that they're still making Air Jordans every year. This was a huge window of opportunity to catch people's attention again with something spectacular because its the 30th edition. No one is going to care about the 31st one as far as joe schmo is concerned. Joe Schmo could've gotten behind the 'Air Jordan XXX' though.

They dropped the ball.

i like 'em. is that 1st grey white black  colorway gonna be impossible to get because it's an all star weekend drop? remember how quickly the black and neon green 28s sold out?

I see post mentioning the sole of the 3,4 and 5 are the same.
That was 1988-1990. NIKE was in its infancy as it relates to shoe tech.
We didn't expect much back then, because we didn't know what to expect.
The NBA had just stopped wearing Chucks a decade earlier, so "AIR" in a shoe was revolutionary.

Well now it's 2016 and your charging $250 for remakes of your 'best' shoes.
You make billions of dollars and can pay the best brains on this planet to design for you.
You don't get a pass, nor do you deserve a pass for not being able to come up with something spectacular for the 30th signature shoe.
As a matter of fact, you so lazily designed the shoe you actually have the resemblance of the Adidas stripes on the inner of the shoe.
That's totally unacceptable :{

That toebox...I thought it was supposed to be invisible unless your see it at certain angles. Those are black and easy to see

Yes all of that

Ready for the release already so the people that like the shoe can just talk about it without having this same argument over and over

They did change the pattern on the outsole though
