So the fact that MJ wanted to have the XI designed so that he can wear it with a suit/tux still means it was just a bball shoe?

whats the argument?
the shoes at their core are basketball shoes. always have been. they were supposed to be the best of the best and apparently still are in that department. Naturally, they are also supposed to look good.

Thats my point they used to have the best performance and the best looking shoe that could be worn off the court. Now not so much. Its mostly all performance with a lil aesthetic appeal.
Saying a shoe design will grow on me is an excuse to pay for a product you don't like and find aesthetically unappealing. The more of you that do this will lead JB into doing more of the same. They will keep giving us uninspired designs that are always going to be competing with the retros. Any shoe JB comes out with will be measured by the past greatness. For too long us true Jumpman fans have been let down waiting for the next incredible shoe but sadly the shoes are becoming what looks like after thoughts. The fact that they used the same midsole speaks to the lazy design ethos of the flagship of all basketball kicks. That to me being a true designer is blasphemy. Never copy from something older even if by a year if you claim your product is the most innovative. If only I could walk into JB right now I would change everything and start over until we got it right. In the end its you the consumer who should win and coming to NT all these years has showed me what the Jumpman fans really want. That is why I need help speaking to the right people to get into this company because I got awesome ideas, technology and designs waiting to be developed.

yea but that's a hard hurdle to bypass to be honest. I believe the designs have been cool recently but we are just past the golden era of beautiful designs.... I mean consistently beautiful.
I mean, today, the sigs that are out now including brons, kobes, kyries, etc are cool but just cant touch what we had growing up (my opinion).
Personally, I like these XXXs better than the brons, kobes, kds but am not sure about the kyries yet so they are the best to me or at least in the top 2 for this year's lineup. Growing up, the Jordans weren't the best looking to everyone either.... there were years where I thought Penny's were >>>>>> some people liked barkleys, iversons, grant hills, and stuff more also.

This is what you said "Jordans have never been strictly a bball shoe". Just stop it you are making yourself look worse.
We talking about Jordan son, not NIke and Jordan models or GS sizes, talking about the flagship model here! In the early days when Tinker was designed majority of the basketball line up and Nike was not the gigantic corporation they are now, they were using same tooling on many models. But never used the same from Jordan to Jordan model.

So the majority of the hate is because they didn't change the midsole?
If that's what people are going with it doesn't look that far off from the midsole on the XX3 either with that piece coming up the lateral toebox.
