AJ XXX (30)

So the fact that MJ wanted to have the XI designed so that he can wear it with a suit/tux still means it was just a bball shoe?

A lot of exaggeration going on in here. Many air Jordan's have taken design cues from the previous years model and added to them. Why is the sole such a big deal when the sole was actually very good on the 29. I love the tongues as well. To each their own. Will cop.

whats the argument?

the shoes at their core are basketball shoes. always have been. they were supposed to be the best of the best and apparently still are in that department. Naturally, they are also supposed to look good.

Just seeing the 30s for the first time, did JB use 2ks shoe creator? :x

Sad part is you can't even blame gentry this time around :lol

Thats my point they used to have the best performance and the best looking shoe that could be worn off the court. Now not so much. Its mostly all performance with a lil aesthetic appeal.

Saying a shoe design will grow on me is an excuse to pay for a product you don't like and find aesthetically unappealing. The more of you that do this will lead JB into doing more of the same. They will keep giving us uninspired designs that are always going to be competing with the retros. Any shoe JB comes out with will be measured by the past greatness. For too long us true Jumpman fans have been let down waiting for the next incredible shoe but sadly the shoes are becoming what looks like after thoughts. The fact that they used the same midsole speaks to the lazy design ethos of the flagship of all basketball kicks. That to me being a true designer is blasphemy. Never copy from something older even if by a year if you claim your product is the most innovative. If only I could walk into JB right now I would change everything and start over until we got it right. In the end its you the consumer who should win and coming to NT all these years has showed me what the Jumpman fans really want. That is why I need help speaking to the right people to get into this company because I got awesome ideas, technology and designs waiting to be developed.

yea but that's a hard hurdle to bypass to be honest. I believe the designs have been cool recently but we are just past the golden era of beautiful designs.... I mean consistently beautiful.

I mean, today, the sigs that are out now including brons, kobes, kyries, etc are cool but just cant touch what we had growing up (my opinion).

Personally, I like these XXXs better than the brons, kobes, kds but am not sure about the kyries yet so they are the best to me or at least in the top 2 for this year's lineup. Growing up, the Jordans weren't the best looking to everyone either.... there were years where I thought Penny's were >>>>>> some people liked barkleys, iversons, grant hills, and stuff more also.

I didn't like plenty of older jordans when I first saw them to be honest....

This is what you said "Jordans have never been strictly a bball shoe". Just stop it you are making yourself look worse.

Like the rubber sole on the Air Jordan 5 appearing on the Air Jordan 6? Or the Huarache bootie in the 7 appearing on the 8's? :rolleyes

85% of this thread doesn't know what they're talking about, nor will play basketball in these...

I tried a pair of the Kyrie's 2 on yesterday and I must say I'm very impressed. Very comfy shoe that looks great on feet. Affordable too. Woulda cop if it wasn't for the cw. But patiently waiting for other colors to drop. Side note.

I'm just sitting here waiting

Man, I'm not one for ******** on someone's dreams, but you gotta get over yourself. Humility could serve you well.

I really don't care how I look on an internet msg board and not trying to impress like some sheep on here. None of y'all truly know me so til then, u stop.

We talking about Jordan son, not NIke and Jordan models or GS sizes, talking about the flagship model here! In the early days when Tinker was designed majority of the basketball line up and Nike was not the gigantic corporation they are now, they were using same tooling on many models. But never used the same from Jordan to Jordan model.

This.
Air Flight '89 and Air Jordan 4 both came out in 1989. Back then, sharing soles for models coming out in the same year was common practice. And all Jordans from 1 - 4 had no Jumpman or Jordan lettering on the outsole anyway but NIKE (AIR).

It does not require to much work to adjust the XX9 sole's look without altering its performance and inner structure.
What they did is a big shame.

Sooo...you've already been to Beaverton, shopped your demo to Tinker Hatfield and NOW you need help finding inroads to Nike/JB? I'm thinking joining NT for that purpose is a step in the wrong direction bruh.

So the majority of the hate is because they didn't change the midsole?

If that's what people are going with it doesn't look that far off from the midsole on the XX3 either with that piece coming up the lateral toebox.

i think its a couple of things:

its the XXX and people are genuinely pissed that JB didnt blow them out of the water with the XXX edition
the midsole (as you mentioned).... people hold JB to higher standards when it comes to the sig shoe. they expect something new and mindblowing every year

had this been the XX8 to XX9 (where the XX9 is the XX8 and the XXX is the XX9), im not sure it would be the same uproar. The fact that this is the XXX which is supposed to be special has some feeling some kinda way.

personally, im happy with the XXX so far and im eager to see if they can really set it off with the colors of this model.

Although I am still on the fence (this happens to 90 plus percent of us with Air Jordan releases) in regards to if I will purchase a pair or not, I find it funny the complaints about the shoe is actually what has made the Air Jordan line a classic for 30 years. It seems people forget that with many of the Air Jordans, the next sig was similar to the previous especially for the earlier models that are everyone's favorite or better yet the models that most of the younger and even some of the older generations will only "count" as an Air Jordan shoe. As well with many of the Air Jordans the shoes were simple with some subtle flare or details to make them pop. Most of the J's with these characteristics are the very SAME retros that we ALL go crazy about when they release.

End of the day Jordan Brand is getting what they wanted. Their getting people to talk about their shoe.
