Its a cheap plastic plate that JB are trying very hard to convince us that is better than the carbon fiber ones from previous models.
The flight plate in the XX9 is actually pebax not cheap plastic.

I don't recall JB trying to tell us pebax was better than carbon fiber anywhere. If anyone knows anything about performance materials, Pebax compared to carbon fiber for a basketball shoe, is a better, higher quality material. Pebax  has a more significant mechanical stability than carbon fiber does.

Aham sure, listen to the NIke/JB marketing. I dont see any high end car maker using Pebax in their line up, seems like carbon fiber is still the first choice for a lot of industries including airplanes and helicopters.

Just like removing the zoom from the heel, replacing the carbon fiber, cheapens the product and makes us feel cheated, especially when they ask more money.

The human foot is obviously not really comparable to a car, helicopter, airplane, etc. Cars, and helicopters don't need to bend or move in the intricate ways a foot does. Hello? Do you not understand that? Think about how a persons foot bends, flexes, & contorts when playing basketball. Pebax, because of its superior mechanical properties compared to carbon fiber, for a FACT is a better material for a basketball shoe. If you are specifically unaware of why pebax is the better material for the flight plate, don't comment like you know what your talking about just because you "like carbon fiber".

The air jordan XX9 is $25 cheaper than the XX8 btw. Just because a material is more expensive, doesn't make it better.

Dude call it what you want, in reality is TPU, no mater what marketing names they put on it, are you a chemist and a mechanical engineer that knows the benefits and qualities of Pebax and the advantage over carbon fiber, which btw is still used in prosthetics as well!

Believe what you want, but every reasonable person will see trough JB and Nike BS that they are trying to push to us for a while. At the end the of the day is your choice, if you like it buy it, no need to be bending out of shape if other people are not.

Yup i dont believe anything nike says

You mean to tell me it took them 30 plus years to figure out no air in the heel is better performance wise? Like really? :lol

Everything they do now is cutting costs to maximize profits but their hardcore fanbase will believe anything and they know this so thats why they do what they do and get away with it

What ever happened to the innovative designs the air jordan line use to have? They havent tried really in years and just pass the line now off as performance first.

I am an engineer. This pebax isn't really an improvement over carbon fiber, pros and cons like anything else. Nike hasn't done any significant performance improvements in quite some time, but you can only reinvent the wheel so many times.

So will this help my jump higher? I just need a shie that gives me the best edge and doesn't make my knees hurt. Is the shoe light?

Contemporary air jordan haters just cannot evolve their taste to wear state of the art kicks for casual. Remember how the chucks were introduced in 1917 or foamposite one in 1997. Years later both of them became casual wear shoes while they were designed as performance basketball shoes back in the days.

To me the xx8 and xx9 are cool looking shoes (though most colorways of the xx8 were whack).
But that's ok. I'm actually feeling good to rock air Jordans which hype beasts don't as they stick to retro Jordans mostly aj 1 - 14.

nah they were revealed in April but that was only because they switched from an all star release back to the original fall release.

No reason to cue on the past, that's what retros are for. The XX8, and less so the XX9 were great shoes in their own right. JB needs to keep heading in the direction they're going with the XXX

I hope the XXX keeps up the trend of the XX9 as the top hoop shoe out

anyone who has played in the xx9s cant deny this especially compared to the kobe kd bron lines

Wasn't the XX9 the best performing basketball shoe in 2014? And yea, I have a pair of the XX9 and they are a beast of a performance shoe. Imma buy another pair of the XX9's and use them as casual shoes, just to see how it will be.

Naw, u are right, but I would argue that the XI is actually the shoe that raised the bar. Original '95 release was soooo comfy, even the 1st round of retroes were on point, comfort wise.

retros are def for style and the new releases are for basketball and its always been that way since retros started coming out but when the original jordans would come out they were the best of both worlds and to me the imaginative innovative stylish jordans are gone for some reason. i havent liked a new jordan model to the point of buying one since the QS XXs but thats just me and im sure plenty of people love lots of jordan models after the XX but i couldnt get with any of them

1st (1994) and 2nd (1999-2000) retros wave were quite good. After that JB became lazy and just milk the retros out with altered color tones and details. Not to mention the bad quality of upper materials and paintjobs on many models.
