Let me preface my comments by saying I do like the look of the first colorway.

With that said, for a brand that is all about commemorating accomplishments it seems rather odd for the 30 to be put together without enough time. Jordans to me were always the type of shoe that pushed the envelope and set the bar for basketball performance. Unfortunately, from the outset the tone was set (by the "use the same sole" comment) that this was to be a shoe that could easily be like at as a 29.5.

At least we get a price break this year at $200 .

"Each of the shoe’s elements results from a key performance insight or design inspiration fundamental to the player and Jordan Brand’s evolutions. The start of the design process, however, tied to a significant, if lesser-known, date: a bitterly cold weekend in February 2015, when – during a pre-birthday party dinner — Jordan asked long-time design collaborator Tinker Hatfield to spearhead the design of the anniversary-marking shoe. “The next morning I drew a shoe,” Hatfield recalls, “because I knew I was in deep trouble. We had no time. Then I realized it wasn’t good enough to sketch a shoe. I asked for that particular photo of Michael in the slam dunk contest and then I drew.”

That logic (from the article) makes sense but is garbage... Like MJ sabotaged his own shoe. After spring 2014 unveil and sept 2014 release of 29 JB designers were most def working on XXX. If out of nowhere in spring 2015 the GOAT asks tink to design then thats whats gotsta happen. Throw all of the "big work" that was happening out the window.

... Then use a craptastic drawing of the xxx net and globe on the free throw dunk and resort to tinker/smith PLAN B

Whoa, all the details popping in this pic. The pattern on the upper stands out and all the simmer and shine from the toebox/midsole complement the colorway and whatever that orange piece on the tongue is. Kinda works. We'll see.

if the original jordans from 1 to 14 even the later editions from 16 to 23 looks this shoe i would have never got into this hobby as a collector for the past 15 years plus i been buying kicks longer then that

Agreed. Like @bdrake23 said. Process takes 2 years and they start right away. Unless those JB designers got fired. I bet they're working hard on the 31 and soaking up this Jordan Porn "global falaxy" failure.

Feels like a placeholder to me....nothing to get excited about. I mean if they can't get excited about the shoe, how can I? I've always felt strongly one way or another about the next flagship model, some have even grown on me....I can say I feel nothng about this shoe. I don't hate it or love it. It is just there.

I'm sure the hidden story is Jordan didn't like where the XXX was going and asked Tinker to takeover. Doing this does give more time for the XXXI though. We shall see

The breathable toe cap sounds interesting.  Traction looks like it is going to be great.  Not sure about the logo on the tongue and the xxx pattern on the heel.  Overall a weak effort for a 30th release.

Embarrassing press conference. Tinker will eat those "I didnt have time" excuses. Its a damn shame what happened to this brand. When money is the motivation life, art and soul is usually absent and this model repesents that. Ugly colorway. Generic design. Uninspired creator.

JB is on its last legs. Nostalgia will only sell so many retros. They (retro 1234) sat in 90s because working adults with buying power then didnt identify with Jordan career and soon the next batch of thirty somethings wont either. They never done nothing creative to market the 15s-23s as next series of retro. They wasted so much time and now its going to be hard to sell these models that already had trouble selling when they were stacked against 1-14 retros in early-mid 2000s. JB outpaced and exhausted a catalog that could of had an infinite amount quality releases if they werent playing money grab every saturday.
