I have to step in here to educate lol. The 2002 is the only retro that uses the same material combination of durabuck cage areas with nubuck panel inserts.

2012 are all one material which is durabuck, albeit Nike’s modern take on durabuck which was a trademark 90s brand that went defunct.

Yes, the 2002 marked the departure of the sleeker shape and went with that fuller look, but to say 2012 is closer to original couldn’t be further from the truth.

I don't think there's any Durabuck on any Jordan retros after 2000 metallic 5s. So neither one of these would have it.

I can absolutely comprehend what you're saying, and the fact that you keep saying that the 2012 retro looks more like the OG is wild to me lol. You are saying that the 2012 where the upper is one cut/texture looks and feels closer to an original that had different cuts/textures, than another retro that used remarkably similar cuts/textures to that same original.

That video shows an OG Taiwan with a brushable nubuck (or whatever you'd like to call it) on the toe, side panel, and ankle. The 2002 might be *slightly* more "hairy" in those parts, but you can absolutely see the difference in materials on the OG Taiwan pair in that video. When he picks it up to do the close-up, you can 100% see the brush marks on the panels that shows there was nap and that shoe wasn't all smooth. It's what creates the contrast between the panels, just like the 2002. There is zero contrast on that 2012 pair.

You pointed out a key thing, the 2002 had more "hair" and nap than the OG.

All of my posts say the same thing, that the 2012 is closer in look and feel to durabuck with how smooth it is.

I never brought up contrasting panels or colors. (Except where I listed the colors on the box)

Other thing I said is that the 2012 is CLOSER to OG in shape, compared to 2002, not as bulky overall.

Last night and today. My biggest gripe with the 2012 is the film that developed on the 23 tab.

2002 is it for me.. loved that pair. Hated the DMPs and the 2012 are cool but yes to that film crap. Thought it was just me. I'm looking forward to these in that Cardinal 2022 shape minus the toe box.

If they keep the quality standard given to the 2022 Cardinals, these must be made in nubuk and durabuk, and the paint in the midsole must be dark purple and matte. Other than that, will be a bust to me...
