i'd pay $4.99/ annually to stay a member...  #justsayin
^^This, considering the amount we pay on sneakers, that's a small amount.

I guess where all this stems from is that people are going the PM route and are scared to post anything in the fear of lurkers.

This just made my day at work!

http://www.complex.com/sneakers/2015/08/niketalk-yeezy-boost-350-outfits

"You would think sneakerheads would have learned to refrain from posting their struggle fits on Niketalk by now, but apparently that's not the case. The forum's latest roasting session comes from its adidas x Kanye West thread, where member DPthaKid felt the sting after posting this image of his "Black" Yeezy Boost 350s.

Although the photo's harmless enough, the relaxed lacing led to a flurry of insults, but the worst started when user amarano compared the look to a Pokemon character.

It was all downhill from there, as joeOh29 got in on the fun with a ridiculous Photoshop of the original image.

The discussion moved on shortly thereafter, but not before L0RDR0CK stopped in to show everyone how he rocks his pair with Wrangler jeans. Just in case you're wondering, he prefers the Wranglers' "U" shape because it doesn't pinch the way other jeans with a "V" shape do."
HAHAHAHAHAHAHHA

For those who've copped a pair, do you guys prefer a size that's perfectly fit on your feet or a half size bigger to leave some room? I had the TD in size 8 but feels like the feet were moving around when walking, and now I got PB in both 7.5 and 8. The 7.5 is perfect fit but I feel a lil bit tight, do the 350 get loose over time?

im glad my little statement invoke a thoughtful convo full of ideas to make our community better... i love you guys... lol

Yes, they do stretch with wear

I think there is a fair way to stop lurkers. I have been in other forums where links can only be seen by members. Why not just do the same for NT. Anyone can read a post but only members who have been active for a certain time can see the links shared by the other members.
The mods wouldn't have to monitor anything. I'm not sure if the options exist, but you would simply have to "log in" to a thread to post or read information while leaving it locked to lurkers or outsiders.

Members that have a join date two weeks prior to a release date of a "hyped release" would gain entry and new members can see the thread until weeks after. It may be strict but NT is supposed to be a community (many forget that), not a place necessarily to feed the profitable side of this hobby.
It's really just programming, but it may be a lot of coding and QA testing to see if it works.

THE IDEA:

The same type of restriction set on being able to sell shoes on here could be implemented. A certain amount of posts would work well. An amount of time will not, because you can create an account and let it sit. Getting involved to get something like 300 posts would send some folks away because you actually have to give an effort to gain a level of informational access.

Then the task would be, how do we get them to not see valuable information when posted if they're in the same thread. It can be hidden by a secondary spoiler comment, that only members with a certain amount of comments can open when clicked. BINGO! The assessment would have to go even further by gathering if those comments are post gaining comments built up mainly on shorts posts like

 or

, if they really wanted to go that far. I think that would work well.

Side note: That $9.99 a month membership is pushing it. Annually sure! Some of us don't buy shoes often due to having kids.

I guess it would make sense if you resell, but I keep almost all of my sneakers.

What is $120 a year on top of retail compared to paying resell for most of the year?

But obviously that would be contingent on the fact that the $120 a year would greatly increase your chances of successfully obtaining releases at retail.

Maybe NT should do what strictly supreme does. With yearly new members only and forums blocked for those who don't have accounts will work greatly I believe . Post count requirements can also be thrown in maybe.

A paying membership guarantees you nothing, but hope. Folks will still be sour from striking out with the info they were able to get.

And so would resellers that profit hundreds off a single release thanks to what's provided on NT. Spend a little to make a lot.

Petitions? Changes? Man look at this guy... Let me know if there is a position for me under your campaign haha

i dont resell, i fall victim to it in some cases.

maybe. but you have to admit that at least 500 lurkers were able to get access they wouldnt have from those ATC links.

not to mention the people they sent them to and so on.

i think if it was a closed group the chances of regulars who are privy on how to use such links would have substantially increased their chances.

think there were 900+ guests for most of release day

A closed group would not work because all you have to do is create an account. Restriction will have to be by post count or reps where folks actually have to put an effort in getting involved. Then members posting would have to hide the info within a spoiler comment that has those restrictions in place. That way, only member with the credentials can open those special spoiler comments. I can see that being an easy fix, as well as a monetary membership. We're about the make the creators of NT rich. I'll take shares now. *birdman handrub*

'The fix' you might call it, should be fixed before any type of costing membership is implemented imo - provide something the community is asking for before asking for more from us. I'm sure they're racking up the money in ads already

i like this idea a lot.

plus it would benefit mods because users would be more inclined to use better judgement of what they say in risk of being banned and losing their "credentials".

and for the record i only threw out $9.99 in comparison to what i do pay for monthly, yet use/benefit from significantly less.

They're already rich with all the ad revenue. Hopefully they also give back to the members making them rich. One paid forum where I'm a member hosts a free NFL office pool every year where cash prizes are awarded weekly and at the end of the season. Maybe NT can do that too, what's $2000 in prizes every year compared to the ad revenue they must be getting.
