If they can recalibrate their pricing and the clothes end up being nice they’ve got a shot. It’ll next be a hype brand which is fine but they can carve a lane of pricing is fair and they get more creative with the shoes.

I’m not sure they can recalibrate with lower prices and it really align with a brand also selling $700 jeans. That’s a brand identity nightmare to sort out. I can’t really think of many brands that have bridged that gap successfully.

I think the heavy fleece items are where the promise. The suede fleece stuff is cool in concept and probably feels more luxurios but that’s the stuff everyone scoffed at price wise. The heavy fleece stuff was priced around $200. I think a lot of people didn’t even bother with it though because the line had already gotten all the bad press and the launch was quiet. With maybe a 10-15% lower base line price and the exposure from this massive sale I think there’s space. It’s at a higher price point than essentials and presumably a higher grade so it’s not direct competition and this sale will probably be the best chance they’ve had thus far to get product on people’s hands. All that said though, this line is never going to take the world by storm. I don’t think it needs to be successful though. Just needs to find its market.
I’m saying all this though and I haven’t actually tried anything myself yet. It could end up being garbage lol

That’s a pretty positive spin having not worn any of it! I think it’s quite the stretch to think a fire sale is going to get a lot more people into future offerings at 10-15% lower msrp. They’ll get to more creative lower priced offerings when? We’ve seen what the 2 is. That hasn’t even dropped. So a year from now this sale is gonna have more people buying at a slightly lower price?
I feel like what’s more likely is the 2 sits, the sales continue to be poor, the designs bland and the creative stuff never coming to market because they’re losing money on this line… or breaking even at best.

You don’t think they’re linked? Maybe I’m wrong but without the shoes it just seems like it’s too niche and cannibalizing the high end FoG brand and existing essentials line. Maybe it rolls into essentials after this current adidas thing collapses? The handling of everything has been strange, down to the fire sale this week.

They are linked, but maybe they shouldn’t be. Clothes and shoes exist in different lanes and the expectations for a shoe line are way higher than a “higher end” sports wear line. Especially if ajerry Lorenzo is attached. If what I’ve heard about the clothes is correct the complaints were always about the price points, not the quality. So if they can figure that out and the reception for all the gear people have bought on sale is favorable, another boutique line under adidas isn’t a bad place to be. That’s independent of the shoes. It might not be the fanfare that was FOG in 2016-2018 but it doesn’t have to be. I think I can see a world where the shoes fail but the clothes can be successful at the right place and quality. It’ll be on Jerry and adidas to lean into the “athletics” aesthetic so there’s minimal cross over with essentials

I try not to associate the red toe as team affiliated colorway. But more of a homage to the bred Jordan 1s.

I think they lowered the quantity for the current and future model, so they won’t have to hurt the brand and discount em heavily like they did on the first collection.
