Would acetone remove the gold on the heel cup without damaging any other part of the shoe?

I wouldn't do acetone. You'll end up ruining the heel cup entirely. Might be better if you end up sanding it down then painting the desired color.

Not sure if anyone mentioned this, but looking at these again, they look like a poor man's Solebox if you uncage them. Since I'm not forking out those crazy prices, these will have to suffice as my SB's.

It's great on the range but not on the course for me.
Responsiveness I prefer over comfort when playing an active sport. UBs are too comfy to feel anything.
