can't remember the gif I was trying to post, but I do remember that images from giphy don't show up on this site most of the time

in the tutorial there is a RED BUTTON that says "UPLOAD A FILE" however on my end i am no longer seeing this button when trying to reply to any thread. Is the only way now to post pictures to a thread by first hosting the image somewhere else?

For future clarification has this button been fully removed for all users or is it specific to me for some reason?

We identified and issue that may have been preventing certain new users from uploading images to the site. Give it another try and let us know if you have any problems.

There's something off about imgur's url structure, I believe, that currently interferes with the system's handling of those images. (They still serve some of their content unsecured, through http, so, if I recall correctly, a URL with http may not work when entered as https or vice versa, resulting in a broken image.)

Improved embed handling is scheduled for inclusion as part of a future update.

In the meantime, I believe you can successfully embed imgur photos by using the embed/media tool in the post editor, like so:
