what??? wade is the heat all time leading scorer, heat all time leading assist, heat all time leader in steals, finals mvp, 2009 nba scoring champ, currently 6 time all star, and all star mvp... what else does he need to do for a franchise?

Although i agree with this statement, I highly doubt it being that A.I. wore #1 when he arrived in detroit. Franchises tend not to suit incoming players up in certain numbers IF they have intentions of retiring it in a couple years. (Please correct me if i'm mistaken)

Zo with the Heat?
Penny with the Magic?

I know they aren't current in the league but will they?

Grant Hill with the Pistons?

Um... .... ... let me think...                        ...I know that.

But he hasn't played there in 6 years and left on bad terms.

Come on.  Retire Shaq's number, you gotta retire Horry's #5, Shaw's 20, and later Fish's 2.

But you know, LA would retire 34.  They couldn't pass up a chance to add another "name" to their legacy.  Self-aggrandizing #@@$%.

34 will be up there for sure...regardless if its been 6 years since he donned a Laker jersey...the main thing is he played 8 years his most years with any team in addition to playing his best with us and successful

There are people who don't think Shaq's 34 will be retired in LA?

Let's see, they can't retire it in Miami, he was there for like 3 years.  Suns won't retire it.  Cavs aren't gonna do it for just a year or two.

Orlando had him for 5 years, they never won anything.

Shaq was in LA for 8.  Won 3 titles, went to a 4th.  Had his best years there.

So someone thinks that Shaq will play his whole career, and NO ONE is going to retire his jersey?  Really?  Come on, that's a lock.  A dead on lock.

Nope, saying I don't think it should be retired but, knowing LA, probably will.

To the older folks, Shaq and Orlando are forever linked.  Enough said.

EDIT: By the way, the Celtics have quite a few numbers stupidly retired.

Only Cousy, Russell, Havlicek, maybe Cowens, Bird, McHale, Parish, DJ, and Reggie Lewis should be retired.

The rest are absurd. Original owner Walter Brown? (#1), Red Auerbach? (#2), Cedric Maxwell? (#31)...

I know some of the rest were part of the old dynasty years but come on.  There's really gotta be a higher standard to retire numbers.
