I hate when I get a message from a person and they intentionally spell a word wrong. I almost look at it like they don't respect me.

But nothing is worse than getting a message with just a "k."  Irks me to no end.

In my opinion, it's like we don't hold ourselves to a high enough regard to do things the right way.

I mean people really intentionally type things incorrectly in order to try to be cool? Dat s33mz stoopid 2 m3

I cringe when I see people using an apostrophe s after a noun that ends in an "s."

For example: This is Jesus's car.

When it should be: This is Jesus' car.

There's a certain team grammar member, I won't name him to embarrass him, but whywesteppin believes you can use an apostrophe s after a noun that ends in an "s." :x

:x at you.

I could care less.

what you did...i seent it

what you're talking about, sir is a paradigm shift.

...towards stupidity. grammatical rules are there for a reason. just making things up would lead to an absurd language system as a whole.

so when people say stupid stuff like "i would of/should of/could of" when in the English language that doesn't make sense, it exudes a certain ignorance. *shrugs*

have fun though.

Language exists to communicate verbally. Rules exist in language so that communication is efficient and effective. What is the point of using language if you don't do your best to use it properly?

My dad does this. My father. My Pops. He's 62 years old. He just learned to text message like, 3 years ago. It drives me crazy.

I scolded him about it one time after we'd had too many beers...he just stared at me like I was insane.

He still does it, but I swear now it's just to mess with me.

So I'm 23 and I got a buddy who up until about a year ago would spell "he's" like this "his" :smh:

There are 3 of us in one of those iPhone group chats, and me and my buddy (who know how to spell one of the most basic words you ever learn) noticed that the other friend wasn't making a typo (over and over) and we started to spell it that way too and he never noticed

This man goes to college and everything, y'all think he spells it that way on his papers, exams, etc.? I know some of you guys will be like "well why don't you tell him how to correctly spell it then?"... we did :/...

Hank Moody said it best on Californication.
Just the fact that people seem to be getting dumber and dumber. You know, I mean we have all this amazing technology and yet computers have turned into basically four figure wank machines. The Internet was supposed to set us free, democratize us, but all it's really given us is Howard Dean's aborted candidacy and 24 hour a day access to kiddie porn. People... they don't write anymore, they blog. Instead of talking, they text, no punctuation, no grammar: LOL this and LMFAO that. You know, it just seems to me it's just a bunch of stupid people pseudo-communicating with a bunch of other stupid people at a proto-language that resembles more what cavemen used to speak than the King's English.
