A sure-fire way to make $$$ playing online poker?

One of my best friends won 14 grand in a tourney last night

Yes, I'mjealous. And the funny thing is he had 2 chances to knock out the guy who got 1st and had a better hand both times

The winner got something around 80 grand.

My friend's just a college kid that usually doesn't make this kind of scratch playing online, so it must have been a crazy tug of war of emotions whenhe ultimately won 14 but should have gotten 80. Knowing how much you're gonna be able to do with that 14 but also knowing that you got sucked out of 80must be like

I was playing in a 10 dollar 15000 guarantee once... first place was like 4000

I got to like 20th out of about 600 people.... only got paid like 100... it took like 6 hours to get that far too

Best I ever did was 2nd place in like a 400 person tourney... but the buy in was just 5 dollars

Just had pocket 8's

Flop is 2 hearts and an 8...

River is his third heart for his flush... and my 4th 8

I think my best feeling in poker ever was at the casino.

I get dealt pocket Queens, some redneck over bets the pot like 50 dollars in a 1-2 dollar table. Flop came AKQ...
Come to think of it based on the circumstances I made a bad play... someone else woulda put him on Aces or Kings

I check.. he bets 100... I think to myself... he doesn't have me beat... i don't think he'd come out with that big of a bet if he just tripped hisA's or K's... so I go over the top... go all in... he calls with AK
So I get like 400 off him.. he rebuys..couple hands go by and I get dealt Aces... he pushes with like KQ and i take another 200 off him

That was a good night

Poker is a game of knowledge and experience... The problem is, the more you know about and experience the game the less you wanna play. I'm basing thatcomment on my poker experiences only, so take it for what it's worth... The reason I'm saying this is because as you get better at reads, how youact/react in certain situations and even money management it doesn't always guarantee that you will be successful. You see cards get turned over andyou're like "how the hell can they call with that...". You can play perfect poker for 10 hrs. straight and lose to a one outer on your biggestpot of the day.... Personally I can't deal with those type of swings, I'm not strong enough emotionally.... I came into the game of Poker thinking thatas I get better I will always win, which is totally false, the best players in the game get railed all the time. It's not like basketball where as you getbetter you become unbeatable, in poker you will always lose, and that's something that's not taught to people who are just learning how to play.

The DYNAMICS of poker is ridiculous... Even if a hand starts out as something you've seen before it almost never plays out that way. So you'reconstantly experiencing new stuff at the table. So when someone tells you how you should've played certain hands you have to take it with a grain of saltbecause they're telling you those strategies based on their experiences...

Sorry about the long write... But at one point in my life poker was everything to me... So I had to get some stuff of my chest.
Oh and BTW the above statement is for cash games only... Tournament Poker is a completely different monster. lol.

Good luck to all on the GRIND!!!

was introduced to poker (texas holdem) about 2 months ago
first night bought in 100 left with 350
next night bought in 60 left with 500

then i started reading, watching, studying, how to get better at poker
since then and over the course of the two months i've lost about a G, because of my losses
i turned to an extremely tight, and agressive player

im currently on a break, a 1 month break,
then imma try it out and play like i did when i first started... loose and passive

i still have to learn a lot, but if things go downhill agian after my break, im done with gambling.

Just hit quads again on poker stars... I swear there is beginners luck on these sites, i had pocket 3's, flop comes 3,8,8 so I have the boat.. guy bets100... next card is a 3... he's first to act and he pushs me all in..
.
I flip over quads... he flips over Q10

I LOVE people bluffing when i have the nuts

n poker you will always lose, and that's something that's not taught to people who are just learning how to play.
Seems obvious to say, but I don't think many beginners understand this... and hell, probably most people who have been playing a long time butcasually still don't have this register completely with them.

Even on your best playing days you can go home broke - playing well doesn't always mean winning money, and playing poorly doesn't always mean losing.

Poker is a game for the mentally/emotionally tough.. i know i was decent at poker at one time, but i got out while the getting was good for the most part.. imade my small amounts of money and cashed out while i was up decently, and haven't really had the balls to go back to it because I know I can't handlethe downswings in it all that well.. i prefer poker on a much more casual basis now, I can't take the idea of grinding out online again at tiny limitsanymore.. too time consuming, not enough money on the line to be interesting.. and i can't afford to put a bankroll together that makes it interesting tome.

That's the biggest connundrum to me.. poker only seems worth it to play for me when the stakes are high enough to affect my day to day life when I win..but i'm too smart with my money to ever put that much of my "savings" into a gambling bankroll (which i accept i could lose all of in a hurry),so it'll almost never be that way for me.

Someday I'll probalby get sucked back into it though.. i've got gambling in my blood.

Craftsy I understand what you mean. That's kinda why I like to play BIG tourneys. Like 20k guarantees and stuff. I mean if I win 5400 or so...i'll behella fine.

Im playing my 2nd sit and go and I have 7-4 off suit and the flop is 2 5 6 then 8 and he has a 8-9 off. He bets I just call to suck some more chips out of him.Next card is a 7.

I dont like playing cash but tried it today when I finished 2nd in a $12 and $24 sit n go.

Me and this dude have most of the chips on table. I have AA and he had A8. Flop is 10 J 8 and he bets, I go all in andhe calls. Then a 9 and then a Q comes out. I end up losing to him later.

That was on the $24 sit ngo.

I ended up turning $45 into $130 playing cash games. Most of it was on 2 big hands.
