Yo!
Figured I’d share this here. I don’t know how many of you are informed, but there’s been a serious attack on men in the teaching industry. More specifically, male teachers of color, especially Black.
There’s a really good teacher who at the end of his first year teaching, passed out letters to each of his students. Someone, probably a teacher who he’s had run-ins with reported him to the school district, saying he was grooming a student. They said he gave a letter to a girl student ONLY. He was placed on leave. The letters to his students only expressed his best wishes for the summer and highlighting an adversity each student overcame - ex. a student’s dad was battling cancer and he wished him a full recovery and hope he can spend time with his dad.
There was a full investigation and he’s been absolved of any wrongdoing, they’re even opening up a discrimination claim. However, until the district actually reviews the investigator’s report, he’s still on leave.
I will also add that he’s the only Black person at the school and like 1-3 male teachers.
The community started a GoFundMe to help support him during this time. Figured I’d post it here in hopes anyone cares to donate to a Black teacher which is super rare, especially at the elementary level.
Also, he’s a fellow sneakerhead
