***It does not matter how organic your food is, how many supplements you take or how consistent you are with your multivitamins. If your gut isn't healthy, you wont get the intended benefits of these things***
We all have trillions of bacteria in our gut. There are good and bad bacteria. A good ratio to have is 80 to 85% good bacteria. A negative imbalance of these bacteria can lead to a slew of issues you wouldn't even naturally link to your gut.
Issues caused by poor gut health:
- Digestive issues like bloating, gas, diarrhea
- Food allergies or sensitivities
- Anxiety
- Depression
- Mood swings, irritability
- Skin problems: Eczema, Rosacea
- Diabetes
- Autoimmune disease
- Frequent Infections
- Pruritus
- Poor memory and concentration
- ADD or ADHD
- Leaky gut
(- I personally speculate acne as well, but this is purely my own speculation)
Treatment:
-Fermented Foods- tons of videos online that walk you through fermenting veggies
-Probiotics and Prebiotics- Probiotics are the good bacteria (can be a capsule, liquid or found in fermented foods) and Prebiotics feed the good bacteria ( garlic, leeks, artichokes, onions) **If you have taken anti-biotics, specially within the last 5yrs, you MUST take these. Antibiotics kills ALL stomach bacteria, so you want to replenish and build up the good bacteria**
-Dietary changes- reducing or cutting out sugars that feed bad bacteria, fats, and processed food.
This thread is inspired by my lil girl. When she was 2yrs old, we realized she was allergic to a lot foods: wheat/gluten, all dairy, corn (its in EVERYTHING, this was the most devastating), bananas, nuts, tomatos, peaches, all nightshades (potatoes, radishes, etc), all beans, salmon, all peppers, most spices, and much more. She also had really severe Eczema. The worst case our doctor said she had ever seen. Her other allergies included pollen, flowers, grass, dust, dogs, and cats.
She is 4yrs old now and all she is allergic to is gluten. I just wanted to pass along the knowledge. I just started eating fermented cucumbers and carrots, and taking a probiotic daily because of all the benefits I learned through her healing journey. After a couple weeks, I noticed I had way more energy, my mind was so much sharper, and I had an easier time recalling things. Never heard of gut health or knew how important it was til I had to help my daughter take serious control of hers. She had an extreme case but I feel it affects a lot of people and they don't even know it.
