If you don't know the plot:

The '3:10 to Yuma' is a train route, like if I were take the '5:30 to New York', or the '2:45 to Cleveland'.

A well-known, feared bank robber (Ben Wade) is caught. Again. The marshals need someone to escort him to the train station to board him onto the 3:10 to Yuma,to be imprisoned in Yuma and eventually hung in public. A very, very poor rancher whose oldest son is losing respect for him by the second is in ALL KINDS ofdebt and happens to be an excellent marksman. He volunteers to escort the dangerous criminal for a pretty large fee. The marshal agrees to pay him once BenWade is actually on the 3:10 to Yuma.

Now... holy CRAP... this movie was LEGIT.

Loved it. Thoroughly.

My two favorite lines from the movie:

*explaining to his wife why he agreed to escort Ben Wade onto the 3:10, after we had already seen in the movie that his life was full of fail so far*
"I hate the way the boys look at me, and the way that you don't."

frown.gif

*talking to his oldest son, after the two marshals already backed out at the last minute*
"You just remember that your old man walked Ben Wade to the station when no one else would."

Great movie. Watched it for the first time for my multicultural film class.

What's this movie about?
My apologies for not explaining more about the movie. If you're going to have 'movie review' in your thread title, you should at leaststate the basic plot of the movie, no?

Ben Foster doesn't get the recognition he deserves for his acting.

he's come a long way from his "Flash Forward" Disney Channel days.

I didn't like the ending.

Have any of you seen the original? The new one is almost an EXACT remake.

Very good movie... great Westerns are always appreciated.

Ska, check out Apalooza... just just came out in theatres. Not as good as 3:10, but still a great flick if you are into this type of movie. Similiar plot, too.

^ Apaloza does look good. I'm not generally into Westerns, but if they have a good plot that captivates the viewer QUICKLY and maintains some semblance ofauthenticity regarding what was going on back then, then I can usually enjoy it.

However, Tombstone > *

I never knew there was an 'original', but thanks.

I'll check it out.

When was it? Like back in the 70s or something? 50s?

Great Westerns are definetly appreciated.
I was so hyped for Apaloosa and then bam, I see Renee Zellwegger is in it. Ruined it for me.

3:10 to Yuma was a great movie. story of a dad doing what he thinks he has to do for his family.
I recommended it to my dad. He watched the first 20 minutes, fell asleep and then woke up for the last 20 minutes.

no reflection on the movie. he does that with almost every movie he watches...

I believe the 50's , in fact I think it was the last western to be made in black and white. Compared to today's movies it obviously seemed corny but Iactually watched the whole thing, and it wasn't bad. It has the same name I think, try googling it.

^ Yeah, I hit up IMDb after your previous reply, and I see it now. I'll be scoping out the local movie places to find it, because one review I read saidwhat you said, which is that the updated '3:10' is VERY similar to the original.

I had no idea before seeing it. I let out a audible groan in the theatre as soon as I saw her.

Spoiler [+]
I was hoping Vigo would just blast her, but alas, nothing. Her playing a $**+@ is very convincing, either, do to her manish looks. Although, no one alluded tp her being Post-op in the move, so I was a little confused...

Unforgiven... Unforgiven... not ringing a bell.

*back to IMDb*
While better known for his work in science fiction, David Webb Peoples' screenplay proves to be a very accurate description of life in the American west, particularly concerning the aspects of the uses and abuses of violence in that era. It is in fact the use of violence what comes as the main theme of the story, as Munny is escaping from his past's violence while the [Schofield] Kid is eagerly awaiting the next chance to prove his masculinity by the use of violence.

With a gritty and realistic approach very in tone with the script, [Clint] Eastwood portraits the Wild West without romanticism and leaving out the mythic aspects of the genre.
Sounds perfect. Thanks for the recommendation.

Unforgiven was ok. I wish Eastwood was a bigger bada$$ than he portrayed. Any Clint Eastwood western is VERY appreciated. Wal-Mart has had classics in the 2for $10 bin lately. I picked up Good, Bad, and the Ugly, Fistful of Dollars, and Hang 'em High, along with Once Upon a Time in the West last week. Allclassics. If you like Eastwood, though, High Plains Drifter is it. As for the original 3:10, I liked it better. Glenn Ford played the Wade part, there was noreal Ben Foster part, and there was no son in the way. His wife followed him out. But it is greatness.

oh..another western..
Assassination of Jesse James...

supposedly was great according to the reviews....personally it was just ok.
