So they’ll take their Pete and Diaz money and overpay Belli or Tucker. I guess it’s not as bad as it sounds cause they needed to shake up that locker room. Soto is still a disaster.

Yep, no words. Nimmo, Diaz and now Polar Bear all gone. Stearns is going to dangle his Dollar Tree signings. Next season (or two or three) is an automatic L. The Coupons are back. LOLMets

Alonso leaving the Mets was sort of expected. They never offered him anything long term iirc.
They were losing with that roster anyways so changes needed to happen, the Nimmo trade was probably their worst move so far this off-season.

No not really.
Pete certainly is a flawed player. But power wise, I’d only take Judge and maybe Schwarber over him. Never injured and is a walking 35 home runs in his sleep. Out of everybody in Free Agency this year, he may be the best guaranteed player out of everybody.
But there is also a lot to be said about trying to keep fan favorites around as well. If a team struggles and you don’t have guys that the fans like to root for, it becomes brutal especially in New York.
And it also kind of sucks that they didn’t value Alonso 2 years in a row. They embarrassed him last year. Had a really good season this year and they gave him a worse offer.
As for pivoting….. To what? (And I don’t mean that like a dbag)….. I don’t think Bellinger at 6 years similar AAV is better than Alonso (and yes I would take him back on the Yankees). Tucker at 7+ for more AAV, sure maybe.
But Mets needed a keep all their guys and add on to them offseason. Not a replace everybody off season.
Swap Semien for Nimmo
Williams for Diaz
Tucker for Alonso

I mentioned here the other day that i saw Steve Cohen at my job. He's gonna be here again today and this guy actually had a personal chair delivered here because he only sits on that one. And no exaggeration this **** looks like a throne
I tried to get a pic but they wouldn't let me. He's being represented by the biggest big dog here at my firm. The chair tho was only missing swords , so over the top

This obviously isn't the chair but it's dam close to what it looks like. All black , crazy detail and over the top big. He's not a tall guy so this might be a real case of little man's complex
We brought it in on a flatbed and they had their own people unbox it. Guys who were doing it said he brings that chair to meetings because he doesn't like sitting in other chairs. Being mega rich must be awesome.
