2026 MLB Season Thread

The Blue Jays were tied for the best record in the American League.

Nice try
They're a rival but I'm good with whoever wins this series :lol, just saying the consensus regardless of their record seems to be that they're still considered a massive underdog against the Monstars.

Regular season has no bearing on the postseason as we get reminded every season

I think it was about 15M with Canada's viewership numbers included. Baseball is in a great place, it's been nice to talk baseball with more casuals at work and stuff so I hope they don't blow it.

Yea the Canadian numbers were record breaking, understandably :lol

But to everyones point, the game is definitely in a good place right now. Games are shorter than ever while attendance keeps going up, ratings are up and the star power is at a level we haven't seen in probably 20 years.

This situation is pretty much the best case scenario that the league would've been dreaming about just a few years ago when the future wasn't looking as great. Really hope Manfried, the owners and co don't fumble the great hand and circumstance they've got now.

It's good, but I still feel like MLB needs to do better marketing, especially with all of the crazy young talent right now. The casual fan probably haven't even heard of all these young stars. Definitely moving in the right direction though

In all honesty I think this stat is overblown. Outside of the 88 A’s, it really wasn’t much of a surprise when the team who went 7 beat the team who swept their LCS. People picked the Tigers against the Cardinals and Giants. But it wasn’t some huge surprise when the 06 Cardinals (much better than their 83 win total in 06) and 12 Giants (recently won in 2010 and had loaded pitching) In 2007 the Red Sox were expected to beat the Rockies.

Beyond that, the last two teams to have swept their LCS won the World Series. There’s been plenty of teams who won their LCS in 5 and won the World Series while the other LCS went 7.

There’s reasons why I think Toronto has a much better shot than people think. But them going 7 while the Dodgers swept isn’t one of them for me.
