It’s such that you can’t post it?

i just scrolled up. i thought it was probably shared. but effectively:

1) the unwillingness to play 1B (which we knew about)
2) him having issue with other players volunteering to play 1st and even mildly encouraging them not to
3) asking for a trade in ST when he found out he can't play 3b

i called him a whiny ***** earlier in the year and i don't really feel any different. great hitter but not really what you need when you're trying to rebuild the team. neither are the guys we got in return tho

Ok. I think through Breslow’s word **** salad he meant they just wanted to be done with the relationship and San Francisco is a good place to go. It’s just dumb not to get the best deal though.

Cora has ties to Bregman from their time in Houston too. This may get real awkward

I said last week, Bregman gettin moved to second base, he just may not know it yet.

Good thing he got all those opt outs.

The day Bregman signed, NT was sayin there was gonna be issues.

if the stuff that's come out about Devers is true...totally fine with the team moving on and i dont feel the same way as i do with mookie. just wish the return was better

model citizen is a huge stretch. there's no disputing his lack of willingness to help the team out this year, though. just cause you show up, clock in, and immediately clock out doesn't make you a model citizen. not in team sports

but i hope he becomes that model citizen for you guys. starting fresh with no grudge against the FO should help him become that model citizen

and im not defending our FO btw...bunch of bozos running the show rn

How is it a huge stretch? Can you show me one negative article, quote, etc. about Devers from 2017-2024 that says he is a problem, clubhouse cancer, me first player, etc?

we are probably just talking semantics. you're saying no negative incidents = model incident. i'm saying just being a guy and showing up alone doesn't just make you a model citizen. but even if we agree that he was a model citizen prior to 2024, there's no disputing he's been far from a model citizen after that point. if stories started popping up out of the blue from 5 years ago, i'll agree with you. but all the stuff coming out is from this year and i don't think any of it seems fabricated. there's a reason the leaders on the team don't seem too bothered about the move

Boston sports media definitely has the reputation of creating smear campaigns after a beloved player leaves, so there's that. I think Big Papi speaking on Devers is pretty damning though..

I think everything that has come out the last 2 days (Ortiz stories, story that he told Kristian Campbell not to change positions, etc.) have been nothing more than hit pieces to try to frame the Red Sox in a much better light than they should be for this trade. Like Ortiz coming out and saying Devers wasnt replying to his messages.....come on man. Even if true, the hell difference does that make? I respond to like 50% of my best friend's text messages. WHo cares?

While I agree with you that he could have handled this season better, I really place the fault at the front office. Devers was the face of the franchise and was blindsided by the team bringing in a player who plays the same position. Then he was told Bregman would play second base which never was part of the plans dating back to when Bregman arrived at Spring Training. Then they asked Devers to DH, something that he was against but eventually got on board with. Then they asked him to switch to first base after Casas went down with injury. He has been dicked around from the start of 2025, and all of this could have been avoided.

And I would have the exact same opinion of all of this if Devers was traded to the Dodgers, so this has nothing to do with me defending my own team's new player.

100% agree with you there. nothing that comes out about Devers should excuse them (and ownership) of blame. nothing the team does to try and smear him will make them look OK. boston media is killing Breslow and ownership over this. botched from day 1 of ST or the Bregman signing.

on the team adding Bregman, totally agree the FO goofed by telling him Bregman would play 2B. but that said, is the team better with Bregman at 3b, Campbell at 2b, and Devers DH? yes both in the short and longer term. but they handled it so poorly and at the same time he couldn't put his ego aside for what's best for the team. which is this day and age is fine i guess because i'm sure he's thinking about his next contract and his value as a DH vs 3b
