when the Yanks had Rickey and Mattingly those were honestly my favorite memories as a kid, even if we sucked those yrs

. Tried to emulate him as much as I could when I played little league. Hit from a crouch, wore mizuno batting gloves and cleats, practiced the snatch catch. Outside of MJ and AI, probably my favorite athlete.
When I was 9, I saw an ad in the chronicle advertising that Rickey would be at the local mall signing his new book. My dad left work during his lunch to surprise me. Grabbed the book and waited in line. For those of you who watched baseball at that time, you knew Rickey was a man of the people, especially kids. I stood in line star struck…I guess I wasn’t being subtle at all and he noticed. He laughed and waved at me and I damn near pissed my pants. Long story short. I met the legend when I was 9, read his book and he was always an inspiration. RIP to the man of steal

Nice pick up. Yung Joc to the rangers. Hopefully this means Pete signs with the Mets for a friendly deal. Would like to still add one more bat and one more bigger pitcher than what we have.

The guy who is worth $30B is broke because of a $23M deferral? It’s a smart move on Manea’s behalf to get the money tax free when he’s retired, living in Florida and can have Steve invest the money for him.
