2026 MLB Season Thread

Speaking of Lacob, is he going to make another attempt in buying the A's?

I know the feeling

From college years to last year:
"Where are you from?"
"Brooklyn"
"You like baseball?"
"Loving it"
"Dope, the Yankees, right?"
"Nah boi. Mets baby"
"Damn I feel sorry for you bro"
"Screw you"

Yesterday at workplace & gaming chatroom
"What's good? You a Mets fan right?"
"Yeah, sup?"
"**** the Mets. They will go second place again. They will choke in the wild card again"
"LFGM! 😁"

I do the same exact thing. Usually when i meet a Met fan and they tell me they root for the Mets my response is "sorry to hear that man" , while rubbin their shoulder

Damn. Goodbye El Gallo. Wish you the best and hope you have a bounce back year with the Reds.

He got a lot of hate from Padres fans over the years because he was a AL ROTY the year when we traded him that costs us then high prospect in our farm system Trea Tuner . Wil was also the first Padre player under AJ Preller and the current front office staff to get a big contract extension for around $86 million. He was and still is a streaky batter who strikes out way to much. Even with all the said I didn't hate on him as bad as other Padres fans did during his time in SD and was hoping he would be brought back for cheap.

The owners of the other rich teams in baseball are still trying to turn a profit. Cohen is on another level from the rest. He doesn't need to turn a profit. That's where the difference lies and why everyone else is salty. He's tipping the scales and the others will have to cut into their profits to keep up.

It's similar to what happened in England when the Russian and Middle Eastern oil tycoons started buying soccer clubs.
Na man **** that. They were insanely rich before they got the team. They literally wouldn't be an owner if they weren't. If they are penny pinching to turn a profit, it's jus tbc they want to treat it like any other business instead of a passion hobby. That should be requirement one for an owner. Own the team bc you like the sport and want to win, not bc you see it as a shrewd business move to make a ton of money.

I agree with you in theory. The reality of American sports, however, is that the vast majority of these owners wouldn't buy these teams if they didn't see them as sound business investments first and foremost. The only baseball owner that treats it like a passion hobby is Cohen.

Currently, but Steinbrenner was the first one to do it like that. I hope Cohen forces Hal to go that mode but I don't see it.

Padres have made some head scratching trades

I already explained why they made that trade at the time. Yes it was a bad move by AJ Preller. Just also like the trade for Austin Nola where he gave up Ty France and Andres Munoz, and Matt Brash who all have flourished with the M's. The Clevinger trade turned out bad also since they gave up Cal Quantril, and Josh Naylor. Clevinger at the time was an ace level pitcher then got injured and had his 2nd Tommy John surgery. Most pitchers don't respond well after that and arent the same after. Dodgers will be hoping and seeing how Walker Buehler is after his 2nd Tommy John surgery which will put him out until 2024 also.

Point remains 🤝🤝

And this isn’t me hating on the Pads, plenty of my SD boys root for them (hell I’m the groomsmen in a wedding down there). Just interesting to see
