My girl surprised me to a Marriot suite (with Rogers centre field view) for my bday. Pretty cool to see an empty stadium with the players working out.
I need to do this. It looks like you're in the stands...Kingdome nosebleed-type section, but in the stands no less.

Not sure what type of opt outs that proposed Soto deal had. But I don’t blame him for turning it down. And I don’t blame the Nationals for making it.
The Nationals know all the average fan is going to see is $440 million and not pay attention to the amount of years and average annual salary and from an optics perspective they can frame it like we tried to keep him but he turned down $440 million.
I don’t blame Soto for wanting a shorter deal. Salaries are only going to get higher. So makes sense to take a 7 year deal or so and get one more crack at free agency with even higher salaries when that time comes.

but can’t players have multiple opt out clauses in their deals? He should sign for 15 years and have an opt out clause every 3 years Just hard to turn down basically 1/2 billion dollars and you don’t know what could happen. ****, look at Bauer. He probably could have signed a deal similar to gerrit cole anywhere from 7-10 years of guaranteed money. He basically chose 3 1 year deals and now he’s ******, and only got paid for 1 year. Nobody signing him after this I think. Catch him in Japan somewhere

True. But who knows if there was any opt out options in it. Wouldn’t be surprised if the Nationals tried to dictate the language in terms of opt outs in a way which would favor them.
I don’t remember the specifics off the top of my head. But I’m pretty certain Bryce Harpers deal with Philly had no opt outs.
But knowing Scott Boras. He likes his guys hitting free agency. But I do see the potential injuries of some crazy situation being something to consider in those types of negotiations to consider taking the deal.
