2026 MLB Season Thread

"Mental" is an understatement

This Angels-Dodgers hypothetical Shohei Ohtani trade from ESPN is mental

John Ireland of ESPN Los Angeles has proposed the following … and actually asked “Who says no?” in one of the most jarring pieces of content you’ll see, hear and read this year:

  • Dodgers receive: SP/DH Shohei Ohtani
  • Angels receive: SS Trea Turner, SP Julio Urías, SP Tony Gonsolin, SP Tyler Anderson and SP Dustin May
There is absolutely no way somebody for ESPN was allowed to ask this question.....

Ireland is a hoops heads trying to kill time on the airwaves, would be different if this was Passan or Buster Olney...

Seems negligent, still...right?
I gathered he wasn't an MLB aficionado but, he's an LA SPORTS Writer for ESPN..?
Seems like this would be frowned on.
I'm all in for fun and games, but that seems uber wreckless.

Thank GOD....I don't even want to see this man in a Redsox uniform again, ever.(he's going to be good one day too)

Ehhh, it's his take and a hypothetical offer. I'm personally not making much of it. If anything, it would've been more embarrassing if he proposed a lowball offer for baseball's unicorn.

No bad, no bad. Bet you Ozuna can rake tho.

But you know what I meant. Baseball is king in the PR.

So I’m hoping Bunny goes at least 2-4 with one double. I’ll be rooting for him.
Even though PR may not be known for their basketball like that they do have a National team, a basketball league (BSN), etc. The sports that are king in PR are baseball & boxing. A sport or sports could be king in a country, but that doesn't mean that everyone will excel in those sports. Yeah, I want Bad Bunny to do good but if he doesn't. I'm just happy that he was there.

If the clubhouse had questions then I guess that makes a lot more sense to fire Montoyo and maybe salvage the season, but in-season firings don't always work out. Phillies have been better, but the Angels after firing Maddon have been terrible.
