2026 MLB Season Thread

What’s their opposition to expanded playoffs? Some guys may have to wait an extra week before going to Cabo

honestly besides injury concerns I didn't get this either until:

Why would the players turn down that latter offer?
Because an expanded postseason largely benefits the owners, not the players. According to the terms of the CBA -- stunning use of italics forthcoming -- all postseason television revenues go to the owners. The players, in turn, get a share of the gate revenues, which is a significantly smaller slice of the pie. Given that it's not certain fans will be allowed to attend 2021 postseason games in typical numbers,

yikes.

More playoff spots = Owners don’t have to pay/try as hard to build a competitive team

Ok, that makes sense then. Even if the owners took home the lions share of postseason $, players still get something, plus more opportunity for a ring, but that reasoning above seems legitimate. Too bad though...last postseason was fun.

Talk about a big f up with this one. Where was his verification? Who was his source? I hope it wasn't "the streets" like how DJ Khaled stated during the 2014 NBA Finals. 🙄🤡
