Those are a LOT of the SB Highs I'm missing in my collection since I was away from SBs from 2009 to 2011. Gonna need to find Huxtables (B.I.G.), Quagmires and Brain Wrecks and I think I'll be good for that era. :D

Thanks John00 I didn't get into SB's until like 2007. My first pair was a basic Team Edition below that I got from the Nike Outlet. Shoes were so comfortable. I did my research online and I was blown away with the themes, creativity, and details of the SB line. I soon found out the more popular releases were hard to get unless I wanted to camp out but I was not about that life. So I found my local skate shop at the time (Vertical Urge) and Pure Skateshop in MD helped me build my current collection. I would do phone orders with them but they would always stress to me to try to support my local shop which I thought was dope of them to say. It's not all about the money...skateshops are so laid back.

really? i hope it does. A set release date will just hype the releases more and as we have all seen, hype is the sneaker lovers worst enemy. what good do you think could possibly come from that?
Repped. I agree here. I don't even like it when my local spots announce a release time like the day or two before on something. I prefer the tweet or facebook update or something that just says something like "New SB shipment in, come and grab it." I seem to have better luck in those instances. Last thing we need is some of these cats out here seeing something like the word "Concord" and flipping their wigs.

Hey lootandpullote are they DS? If you don't mind, how much they asking? I got a meet up tomorrow for a VNDS pair and just want to know the market for them.

They look legit BTW.

Mobile making me double post sorry guys, see below...

Hey LootAndPollute and osyrhiz. Please edit out the pic with the dudes address on it.

Every time I hit this thread, I have to go right to eBay.  So much stuff I passed on when I was focused on completing my Jordan collection.

Yeah - SBs are something of a hole in my collection too. At least relatively speaking.

I tended to prefer the standard dunks. And, I thought the SB hysteria was a little absurd at the time - was incredulous at the idea of showing up at 5AM to cop a pair of NERDs. All that was apparently tame by today's standards. A 2013 skittles color Foamposite release will rival the Pigeon drop. So, that sort of turned me off a bit.

So, I still have some pro bs, silver boxes, and pink boxes I need. We know that AF1s are my original love, but my tastes are pretty wide in Nike. So, AF1 hunting is a constant, and then depending on my mood and the market, I tend to binge in and out of Js, AMs, Dunks, SBs... periodically. I just sort of go for what isn't all that hype at the time - sort of like buying winter clothes in summer and summer clothes in winter. It's all cyclical anyway - at some point everything cold will be hot again. And, I've been doing this long enough to know that the best way to operate is to use the market against itself. I have no rush for any specific pair, and no known end date of my pursuit of kicks, so it's all about bobbing and weaving and buying in buyers' markets, and selling (if you choose) in sellers' markets.

I know what you mean sneakerfan1, lately I've been trolling eBay daily looking for SBs. This thread made me do a complete 360 when it comes to lows, and Jordan brand hasn't been on my radar since, I'm passing on those xiii this weekend.

Co-sign both (passing on the 13's as well, I'll get back to those if the b-grades hit the outlets).

I tend to flock to where the hype isn't, but nowadays I'm pretty much content with what I have shoe-wise so I'm in a position now where I can just sit back and wait for deals.  In some cases, I'll splurge when a new release strikes me as a must have, and I've done a whole lot of that since November, but since I've for the most part shaken the JB bug, I can now go back to the one of the true fun parts of this hobby to me which is chasing those steals and sniping auctions, lol.

It's a good place to be.

Just a little public service announcement, because I know there are a number of newer collectors in this thread - and they're not idiots like in the Lebron and Foam threads. So, I'll actually drop knowledge instead of just making fun of people.

I think part of the wisdom you gain as you pile up experience is having seen the market cycle though a few times. Folks who just got into the scene probably can't imagine Foams not being popular. But, 10 years ago, people would have said the same about SBs.

The other thing to keep in mind with this new generation of "I just buy shoes to take pictures of them for Instagram likes" collectors is that it's no big deal if you miss out on a release. Too many noobs get caught in the moment. Next week there will be a new have-to-have shoe. There will be tons of pairs available down the line, if you really like them. And, when the inevitable hype cycle switches, these kids who didn't wear them are going to be left holding what they thought was an investment, but they will find out is really more of a depreciating asset. ...As always, the least-hyped GRs will be the shoes that double in value 5+ years from now, not the limited stuff. The limited stuff usually hits its peak early after release, hype goes down and then supply keeps steady because few people are beating them. It's the shoes that everybody wears for ball that begin to disappear, then those will go up in "value" years from now because the supply has actually dwindled.

People tend to think that the longer they hold something, the more it will be worth. That's only true when something is actually rare - none of these kicks really are. And, the "rarer" they are, the more they are preserved, which means they aren't rare at all in the marketplace. Once the hype spotlight passes, they'll just be a widely available good that is much less cool than it once was.

So, I keep the long view in mind. AF1s don't get retro-ed, really. So, that's why I can never take my eye of the ball there. I caught a pair earlier this week that I hadn't seen pop up sale in my size and proper condition in like 4+ years. So, I can't let opportunities like that pass. But, on most things, you can afford to wait and get your price, so long as you don't succumb to the thirst.
