this red sox team is fun to watch and actually kinda decent. that said, one or two injuries and it's going to get ugly. the margin for error in terms of any drop off in talent is razor thin

Pitchers used to throw 130+ and pitch 250 innings including pitching every 4 days.

Pitchers don't sniff those numbers these days. They just throw harder while trying to throw more spin.

Throwing that hard in that unnatural motion is going to do that. Interesting take on pitch clock might being an issue. Maybe that slight rest in between pitches pre-pitch clock allowed for a little more recovery between pitches.

*I don’t think that’s truly the reason, but speeding up a process that was unnatural to begin with and increasing the efficiency of that motion might be something to keep an eye on/continue to research.*

You’ve trained your entire life (20+ years), then all of a sudden they say nope, gotta change your ways now.

Now throwing in that “unnatural motion” 150+ times a game, and having to do it with less of a “break” in between pitches, I can see that being taxing on the arm (that has never been taxed like that).
