2023 MLB Thread; Say Hey, Charlie Hustle: Rest In Power, Willie. RIP, Pete.

**** Yoenis, he's been paid well for doing nothing the past couple of years. He could have opted out before the season started. Not showing up like a brat. Whoever signs him, get ready for injuries galore.
That lineup they had on opening day, I would have sworn they were going to make 2015 noise.
Never do I feel sorry for owners but it does suck that he signed a 3/75million and hardly played.
He carried that team to the World Series and basically got 75million for that alone.
Didnt he operate on both feet in year 1
Tore up his ankle while playing on his Ranch year 2.
Now opting out year 3.

What a turd.

I give Cespedes all the props for 2015 but he was damaged goods after that. The Mets even chose him over Daniel Murphy following 2015. Murphy had a much better post 2015 career than Cespedes. But 2015 was 5 years ago, Cespedes was paid handsomely for not doing anything for a few years. He could have shown some respect or professionalism here.

I totally agree. If they won all of these games and Yoenis continued his play that led to a walkoff win in that first or 2nd game, I think he’d still be playing instead of opting out. The only reason I said he got 75million for that carrying them to the World Series is because he didn’t give them anything else after. Their intention was to pay him for continued performance, sucks it turned out to be a 3year Salary for prior performance.

The Mets knew Cespedes had heel issues that were going to have to be addressed at some point. Instead of taking care of it when he started exhibiting pain and couldn't play, they kicked the can down the road. It's their fault they didn't get a ROI. He shouldn't have been left to his own devices in Florida to get hurt again. Fred and Jeff should have made him stay in NYC where he could have been under watch during recovery.

Murphy walked. No one wanted him. Had the Brandon Philips deal not fallen through, he wouldn't have gone to Washington. It was dumb to expect Dilson Herrera to replace that production, but no one saw Murphy having the postseason he did and carrying it over for a few more seasons. You risk paying for someone that can't field and was an average hitter.

Finally tracked one down:pimp:

The Cardinals outbreak is because players went to the casino. The players needed a bubble because they aren't responsible enough to do what they're told.

I hope Luis Robert does great during this shortened season. Had no idea that he's batting lead off.

I don't think a bubble would work for baseball.

I'm definitely surprised STL was this dumb about it, but league-wide, it's still a manageable situation.

He hadnt been...He was hitting 7th or 8th and it was bought up in one of the broadcasts that he shouod be near the top of the lineup for protection, not the bottom of it, which makes sense, so it's good for him that they moved him up. He's got serious pop.
