Which is why this news seems a bit odd.

Idk who should disagree with this move more between the coach & the gm but bowf dem need a real sit down and talk pros & cons.

A council present, of course. Not just AC Johnny Bryant there to put in his 2 cents.

Leaving the city isn't hard, it's the finding somewhere else to go that is

Idk if you watch “It’s Always Sunny” but this convo reminded be of the episode of when they moved to Suburbs and couldn’t last 30 days. :lol

RJ Barrett is untouchable?

I get where you are coming from but I think it comes down to what rolaholic rolaholic said yesterday….Yes, Spida is a 25 y/o perennial all star but trading RJ + draft capital (and maybe another piece or two) is a lateral move in the long run. They need to keep RJ in order for a Spida trade to be worth it, hence why he is “untouchable” in THIS particular trade scenario.

So you think Mitchell and Brunson could work?

When you were just laughing at us 15 mins ago.

Be real.

I wasn’t laughing though.

Yeah it can work. Brunson can play. The pieces around those two are going to be key but having 2 really good guys in pick and roll is always a good start

I wouldn't trade RJ Barrett for Mitchell. I already know what I'm getting with Mitchell and it's basically nothing of importance.

It's gonna be picks, Grimes, Toppin and filler.

We own a ton of picks so which picks are included will be important.

Also, we have to be real about the Knicks young guys. I like them all but fans naturally overrate their own players. If you remove the names from their production, would you trade 2-3 of them for a 25+ PPG all-star guard?

I'm not in love with the idea of going all in right now but I could be easily sold. I think a couple consistent years of just being a 4 seed would go a long way in establishing credibility as an organization.

There’s a 3 year age gap but I don’t see what RJ has done to not be moved for an all star.
That AS isn’t Donovan Mitchell though.

That’s ok tho. RJ has many doubters and naysayers.

All he’s doing is getting better still at 21 years old. So far the lynchpin to the rebuild.

Anyone arguing that having Spida instead of Broadway Barrett as some a sort of major upgrade is either uninformed or more likely being willfully ignorant.

RJ really hasn’t gotten better though. Nothing significant at least. Still a volume scorer that can’t really shoot like that. Not saying give up on him but he shouldn’t be untouchable

I’d rather keep Grimes than Barrett to be honest. I don’t think much of RJ but not really for blowing up a team for a second tier star like Mitchell.

And Mitchell/Brunson backcourt would be fine offensively obviously but you can’t win in the NBA when your starting guards get shredded on defense. We saw it with Utah past few years, or with Portland forever now.
