Texans were minutes away from hiring McNown (which they were getting killed for, given the optics), Flores news broke, and immediately changed course to Lovie who no one even knew was a consideration for the job. While I agree they don't care about PR moves in most situations, that was absolutely a PR move.

They didn’t hire Lovie and have him bring in a bunch of his guys to be a one year thing. Culley was specifically a one year guy with O’Brien holdovers. Culley knew what the deal was at the start, which is why he’s been at Rockets games and talking to players and coaches at practice. He is kicking back with what was basically a severance package.

It's been pretty clear the Texans have no idea what they're doing and/or acquiesced to their handling of a minority coach. Love Smith was a great coach. Probably still is in some sense, but if anything, he provides stability. I have doubts that it leads to much winning, but given the Texans' handling, I guess he's a 2-year hire. Give him the benefit of the doubt year 1 and hope he does something miraculous year 2...otherwise, he's out. I'd bet money on that. They aren't expected to do anything anyway, so let Lovie bring stability, McKown comes in as the savior, which aligns with any accumulated traction that organization gains, if in fact they do. This **** happens all the time for the picture not being too clear as that is what is happening.

Their owner is like one of, if not, the richest owners in the league. If you're talking about the cap then idk I feel like the NFL creates cap room out of thin air. I'm still not understanding how Kirk getting 40 mil this year gave the Vikings cap room when before that they were saying his original cap hit if 35 mil left them with no cap room lol

Something about moving it down the line...I stopped trying to make sense of it all.

I was surprised to see they are upper-middle tier in capspace. They did the same with Thielen, and of course the Rams operate as if the salary cap doesn't exist, so I have no idea anymore. These new GM dudes are clever.

Also as far as summer states side, I’m looking forward to doing another alaskan cruise during the summer one of these years soon

one or the coolest things I’ve done/seen, going for a jog around the deck track in shorts and tshirt while the boat is cruising past glaciers

new York in the summer was just muggy.. everything I didn’t like about London, New York is the same damn thing

I did a month + on a salmon fishing boat a summer in college and the sights were great.

Then let’s go ahead and get this going cause I think you’re terribly wrong and been fooled by the media that pushed McCown to the Texans far more than the Texans have themselves.

Lovie is a decent/above average coach at best, the Texans are going to do anything great with him. Especially with that roster.

Don’t really think that was media pushed considering some of the names that were reporting how close it was but alright.
Jerod Mayo was “a lock to become Texans head coach” simply due to the Caserio connection, despite him never being interviewed, so yea there’s that.

Never heard one person say down here, from talk radio to McClain, say Mayo was “a lock.” Heard he was a serious candidate that faded after a couple weeks.

I'm not..but okay...Your blinders dont bother me. If Lovie is fired before the 2024 season, $100 to me.

Raise up, homie!
