Luka was 4th in MVP voting last year and put up a 29/9/9. It's not like he's coming out of nowhere or something
Most are just predicting him to win MVP because of the combo of Giannis fatigue and the crazy numbers he's likely to put up.
Bron/AD going to split votes and who knows what happens with Harden. It's not some complicated concept.

he wasn't able to get the paperwork over in time and the dubs didn't want to pay the late fee, which was going to be more than his entire contract

It's kind of surprising to NBA has so many more players making $20m+ when you consider the fact that MLB doesn't have a salary cap at all. I guess it just comes down to roster size and revenue.
