2019 NFL Draft Thread

....what yall think of Fant?

Couldn't believe my Broncos passed on Bush and Haskins.

All I know is what I heard and saw...I heard Fant being the top TE in this draft prior and during most of the 2018 CFB season...What I saw when I watched Iowa was Hockenson dominating in EVERY facet of the game. Fant got all the publicity, even still...He was the TE/WR hybrid, athlete, yada yada....He might end up being great, but from everything I saw, he wasn't anywhere near as good a FOOTBALL player as Hockenson. In the right system though, and on the right team, he could do damage, I think...I just don't know if Denver is that team...

My opinion is that it was a waste of a pick when you don't have a QB.

And he’s not particularly adept at reading defenses.

He had a 52 TDs to 29 INTs across his Duke career. If we wanted another guy who like Eli can make some absolutely baffling turnovers then **** we got our man.

We could’ve gotten him in the 2nd. Hell maybe even the 3rd.

We could’ve gotten a guy who threw for 50 scores in his sophomore season or a guy with back to back 30+ TD campaigns against tougher competition in Will Grier but nah.

Nah.

We took the 0 star recruit who might sit for three years.

Yeah I’ll be sure to not sleep on that guy.

At least he got the derpy looking face down pat.

Oh, I think where they drafted him was a reach...I'm just saying, don't close the book just yet.

All that et cetera **** you can spare me with. I understand though...

Arm talent.

Hate that term, but I know what you mean...I still stand by what I said though...Reading, recognition and touch are still the most important aspects of being a successful quarterback over the long run...We'll see...

All jokes aside, Daniel Jones was a very good college QB. Teams weren't looking forward to facing him and that Duke offense. He wasn’t just a game manager like Greg McIlroy was, he had a couple of 400 yard 4-5 TD games last season.

I just don’t see where Gettleman got “franchise QB, top 6 pick” out of him aside from being a tall white guy from North Carolina who knows David Cutliffe.

The chief knock on Jones was his accuracy dipped the tighter the window and he didn’t have the sheer arm strength of a young Eli or say a Jameis Winston or even someone like Sam Darnold to rifle passes in there when he wanted/had to. He’s not gonna get a lot of time behind that horrible o line and windows are gonna be tight so... I suppose the other side of that is he still isn’t the turnover machine any of those guys are and like Eli got good college coaching?

Whose gonna to be the Lions next coach and GM?

Them boys getting fired by Week 11.

Brian Kelly. Maybe I should become a Steelers fan so my SN still makes some sense?

I'll be able to stomach this draft if they walk away with Greedy at 43.

It should mean more than just pure velocity.

When I think of "arm talent" I think of guys who are able to throw off multiple platforms and from different arm slots and still maintain accuracy.

The guy’s arm is trash, he can’t throw down the field and he’s already had surgery on his shoulder. It’s one of the worst picks I’ve ever seen. All I can do is laugh.

Anyone else think the Giants gave up a lot to move back in? Way too much.

Giants will be cleaning house again in three years.

i still can't believe we took Harry...a WR...in the 1st. i'm ecstatic

I don't get it.. I feel like if the pats took Aj brown that could be scary

Like I thought Jarvis Landry or golden Tate could be scary with y'all

I mean I assume Harry will go in the slot too, but dude gets zero separation.. and as I wasn't halfway arguing with a dude last night ain't easy being nuk

I don't know if it was talked about, but the Chargers with a low-key GREAT pick. Mostly because their Dline is already stacked, so Tillery complements the others nicely, but I think that one kinda flew under the radar.

I mean everyone penciled them in for Lawrence because they need that big guy in the middle.. their pass rush will be nice, but gotta wonder what's their run defense will look like

To me, would have made more sense if chargers took Lawrence and Giants took tillery

Shhhh only reason I was so high on tillery is because fletch is big enough and strong enough to play nose on couple downs.. obviously you don't him there full time, but it's just a small wrinkle u could throw at teams in the rotation

This Giants front office is really clueless. Most Giants fans don’t like Eli. Most fans been wanting him gone for years. So what do they do? Draft a less talented version of Eli. I’m still in shock. What a stupid ****in pick.

Felt good seeing a player from the SWAC get drafted in the first round. Would love to see HBCU football return to its glory days.

I'm thinking about this Daniel Jones thing... are there any past prospects who were pretty much universally disliked that turned out good?

Quiet as kept, Dexter Lawrence and Deandre Baker will be GOOD players for the Giants! Those two should be immediate starters and impact players

Yup.. but also, to me TE is just as much of a luxury pick as RB..

The position is so nuanced that it might be the hardest to adjust to and get returns right away.. plus it isn't all about the measurables.. plus pretty much all of the good-great TEs right now all came outside of the 1st

Like I wouldn't be shocked if the WVU dude went in the 3rd or later and ended up being the best of em

Not that I can recall.

Jones would have been available in the third round and later. Manning has too much influence over the organization and Mara continues to cater to him. Playing for Cutcliffe doesn't mean he's worth being picked six overall. Don't know how Haskins will pan out, but I know he's looking forward to playing them twice per year. You know how bad of an off-season you had when trading Odell wasn't your worst move?

And I think folks should sit tight on Daniel Jones...Duke was a tough out all season and while he didn't jump off the screen at you, his resemblance to Eli can be a positive in the NY market. I hate writing off guys so early and usually I have no issues doing that with QB's, but Jones really does have that Eli-ness to him in that he's the I'm-oblivious-to-everything-and-everyone-around-me-and-I'm-just-a goober-who-can-throw-a-spiral(and, oh, did someone just hit me? It's cool, man...I'm a weirdo, feel nothing and will now drop an unsuspected dime on your best DB...riiggghtt...now)-with-no-emotions whatsoever-and-we'll-see-what-happens kinda guy.

Giants won the first round, IMO. I was joking earlier about Jones but, I think he’ll be solid. Accuracy is the most important attribute of a QB. Plus, getting Baker and Lawrence on defense? Goodness

Baker and Lawrence are complimentary pieces thou, to me.. yes I think Lawrence is more than just strictly a NT like vita or Danny Shelton

But I feel like they could have gotten way more out of all their picks.. if it were me I woulda gone Simmons if my team is that bad and I'm drafting future anyways

Fam, Giants had Jones at 1a, Lock at 1b. You could have had EITHER of those QBs in the 2nd round, maybe even the 3rd round. You could have also got Rosen for a 3rd round and I'd take Rosen over all of them.

I said in this thread over and over, Gettleman is a ****in moron. Guy wants to be the star and the smartest guy in the room when he's not.

Giants have had some of the worst drafts over the years and they outdid themselves. Congrats to them, this is the worst draft I can remember.

Giants are the new Browns, biggest joke in the league.

Daniel Jones... :lol :lol :lol

I still can’t believe they did it at 6.

There’s no way he wasn’t on the board at 17, and probably at 30.

Could have gone Josh Allen or Oliver at 6, Lawrence at 17 and had your defensive front set for a decade.

I bet NE couldn’t find anyone to trade out of the first round to get guy they were gonna lock up regardless

Pretty much just to pay him second round money rather than first.
