Look at this 1991 Infared 6. The black leather appearance makes it look dangerous and belligerent.

There is also fabric stiching along the front top lip of the tongue, over and along the back as well. The 2019 does not have this extra well done craftsmanship.

I believe these were made in Taiwan

So in 1991, you were essentially paying $238.83 for a pair of Infareds.

I thought there was a discussion about that detail varying in '91 by factory. I had them in '91, however, can't recall that detail and have no pics.

Mjo23dan did a video where he explained the details quite nicely. There were actually different production runs of the og infrareds. Some included the extra fabric on the tongue and some didn’t.

Those are straight up prototypes with slightly different panels and everything. You can see it better in other pictures from that same shoot but if you zoom in you can see the difference in the toe rand.

Nike/JB is using a material that is very similar in appearance and texture to Durabuck. It's been ages since I held the 2000 in hand, but Im pretty sure all 3 Are similar. The 2019 is much better in terms of shape and the shade of infrared then the 2000.

One thing they never seem to get right on VIs nowadays is the comfort on the upper , the 2000 VIs really hugged your foot , while recent feels like an empty shell.

Without 3M it's just not right. Even more important than NA in my opinion b/c the black on black isn't very noticeable, however, 3M was a key feature.

2019 pair was as good as retros get tbh. Not perfect by any stretch but they were on point and every bit as good as a 2000 era retro. Personally I consider them the best infrared retro because of the color and the inclusion of 3M.
